Indiana EDGE Damien Shanklin will visit Tennessee in June, and he has forged a strong relationship with Mike Ekeler. Notre Dame and several others are in play for the four-star EDGE, but one thing standing out to him about the Vols is the culture and consistent development of pass-rushers since Heupel & Co. have arrived on Rocky Top.

Indiana EDGE Damien Shanklin released his list of favorites this week, and Tennessee has been high on his list for months. He is a player the Vols have a strong interest in, but this race has become more crowded with the recent emergence of Ohio State. We would not rule out him making it to town in the spring, as Tennessee battles Notre Dame, Texas and the Buckeyes in this one.

I am told Damien Shanklin had a very good visit with Rodney Garner today. He is setup for a June 14 OV. Vols are very much in this one with some stiff competitors in the mix.

Garner also checked in on Damien Shanklin during his three days on the road this week, and the elite EDGE told us the visit went very well. He added that he is excited to get back down to Tennessee in June for an official visit. LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas all continue to be prominent players here.

Shanklin has scheduled a September 21st date for a decision, but the more we check into it, we believe that could move forward depending on how he feels coming out of official visits.

Tennessee has been on Shanklin for a long time and they’ll get him back to campus on June 14. The Vols sit at No. 14 right now in the On3 standings.

“When I went to Tennessee I felt all the love that they brung and also the hospitality was amazing,” Shanklin said. “And during the game the fans is all for football no matter what.”
