I know most of you have probably heard the “trash talk” from the Gators this week, if you can call it that.
“That really is where we want to get,” Joiner said. “We really want to get into somebody else and take their cheese. Make a sandwich in the kitchen. Ham and cheese with a little turkey, mustard and mayonnaise.” –UF’s Tony Joiner
Um, ok. I am trying to imagine the look on the person’s face who conducted this classic interview. I imagine a guy standing there with a blank look on his face, unsure of what to say or do next. I’ll bet Joiner had to repeat it three or four times just to make sure they got the quote right. Uh, you want to make a cheese sandwich? In their house? Is this really the kind of trash talk Coach Legend is teaching down there? Cheese sandwiches? That’s the best they can come up with when the Eastern Division of the SEC is on the line. Do you need any more proof that the Florida swagger is gone and the days of the “Mighty Gators” left with Coach Spurrier? I thought not.
I guess Florida lost more than their chance to win the East when Steve left. Let’s just hope the Gator fans will rally behind Joiner on this one. Knoxville could be filled with a bunch of smack-talking Gators walking around in their jorts eating cheese sandwiches. I’m surely bringing my camera on Saturday.
In all fairness, maybe I am misinterpreting all of this. It might be that this Joiner kid is being serious. Maybe he is just hungry and is dreaming of making a cheese sandwich. We might need to start a fund drive to help Mr. Joiner afford his very own cheese sandwich. We could probably even throw in a bag of chips if all goes well.
