Leak Signs with Bucs

cj leak

Chris Leak signed with the Bucs? I thought I read that he was drafted by the Bears. Oh wait, you aren’t talking about, it can’t be….. C.J. Leak.

Trust me, I had to read this article twice myself just to be sure I understood it correctly. It is true. C.J. attended the Bucs mini-camp as a long shot with a dream and actually ended up making the team. Who could have guessed? Probably nobody but him.

As of today, Leak is officially part of the 80-man roster of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is listed as a tight end, the same position as the Buffalo Bills signed him a year ago. Training camp begins July 26th.

It’s kind of ironic that Juicy Curtis Leak actually played for Tampa in 1976. Well, by played, I mean he was on the roster. He didn’t actually play in a game.

Leak’s stats at Tennessee: 11-22 for 122 yards and 1 TD. The lone touchdown? A 15-yard completion to Bret Smith against then #8 Georgia.

  1. […] just realized that I used an entire post to tell you about the C.J. Leak story yesterday. No way should VolNation readers have to log on and see a big picture of any member of […]

  2. just another example of what a brilliant judge of talent Fulmer is. Any Clausens currently on any nfl rosters.Someday someone is going to wake up and realize this idiot is running this football program in the ground. You vol fans must face reality. You are not mentioned among college footballs elite anymore. You are not TEXAS,OR USC, OR OHIO ST. OR FLORIDA OR OKLAHOMA OR LSU,you are not on the level of VA.TECH or WEST VIRGINIA.So dont criticize the Leak family for making a wise choice and sending Chris to FLA.He has national title, C.J IS IN THE NFL.CURTIS looks brilliant, and fulmer looks stupid. AS ALWAYS.

  3. Leak not playing at Tennessee is a reflection on Fulmer’s judge of talent? I didn’t realize he was playing QB in the NFL. Tennessee is the one that started looking at him at TE but unfortunately it was too late in his career for him to see the field.

Where did I criticize Chris for going to Florida? It worked out well for him. He won a National Championship and now it looks like he may get to spend some time on the Bears practice squad.

Look, make it into what you want but my dislike for Chris and Curtis comes from the way they handled his commitment. Daddy had to get involved and they tried to parlay it into more playing time for C.J.. When that didn’t work out, things changed and those two weren’t afraid to cry to the media and make it into a national issue. Most eight year old kids are more mature than those two.
