WAYNE CHISM WHERE ARE YOU?
Many of you are aware that I’ve questioned the production of Wayne Chism so far this season. Not only does Wayne have more experience than most on this team, he also has all the physical tools to succeed. For whatever reason, it’s just not happening for him right now – Chism isn’t feeling it.
UT junior center Wayne Chism said the team is going through growing pains.
“I feel like I’m a freshman again in some ways,’’ Chism said. “Everyone is trying to fit in, and there’s still a lot for this team to figure out.’’
Wayne has to be more productive in the paint and stronger to the basket. He gets his next chance tonight against UNC Asheville. Tipoff is 7pm.
CHAVIS IN THE NEWS
According to Jim Wogan, John Chavis is being mentioned as a candidate for the defensive coordinator position at Clemson under new coach Dabo Swinney. Coach Chavis has also been mentioned as a possible fit at Arkansas and LSU.
If a certain new head coach is not able to land a certain relative from the NFL, fans will be wondering why a defensive staff that coached the sixth ranked defense in the nation this past season was dismantled so quickly.
The good news is Profootballtalk.com (typically a good source) believes Monte is coming to Knoxville:
Profootballtalk.com’s Mike Florio brings it as usual with all the buzz around the NFL:
— Florio thinks the Bucs will let defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin go work with his son at Tennessee. Head coach Jon Gruden has ties to the Vols and would likely not want to ruffle feathers there.
TAKE THAT SPURRIER
You probably heard the rumblings yesterday of the ole ball coach already accusing Kiffin of cheating on the recruiting trail by contacting Jarvis Giles before having passed the necessary NCAA exam required by all coaches. According to Chris Low, Kiffin took the needed test last Monday the 24th.
