SEC contraction

I would like Vandy to go to Ivy League or something like that, but why would they want to. And I guess there academics helps the SEC too.

I actually think Mullen will turn around the Miss. State program eventually.

Besides, if the SEC kicks Vandy out, then our collective average of the level of acedemics become even more of a joke then they already are.

I just said this in another thread. There is a pervasive feeling that adding some teams that don't live up to sec standards is a bad idea. There are already a number of schools IN the conference that don't live up to "sec standards."

Why not? None of those schools add anything to the conference...

I get so tired of the ignorance on this board.
Vanderbilt and USCjr. actually have extremely profitable athletic departments. If you want to boot someone, MSU and Ole Miss are by far the two weak links.

Miss State doesn't bring much to the table, but Vandy has academics and is competitive in other sports and SC brings a substantial regional TV market to the fold and has some serious fan support.

Clemson would bring more of a regional market than USCe... Clemson would bring in the Charlotte market and part of Georgia... Clemson fans are like cockroaches on I-85...

er...

Mississippi State football > Vandy football
Mississippi State basketball >/= Vandy basketball
Mississippi State baseball >/= Vandy baseball

(this is based on the programs on average, not on this year in particular, as Vandy had an unusually good year in baseball and basketball)

also Mississippi State has a much larger fan base than Vandy.

State is actually on the verge of expanding their football stadium that is at least 10,000 seats larger than Vanderbilt's. Vanderbilt has difficulty even filling up what is by far the smallest stadium in the SEC, despite being in the largest city of any SEC team.
