Good for us, but it is a sad day for a kid who was truly manipulated by a bunch of Aholes.

Not surprising at all. I see the Rupp Rafters Mensa group is going nuts, but any reasonable Cat fan saw the writing on the wall.

I don't feel too bad for him. His case was a longshot and he'll now just have to travel pretty much the same path as every other European player to the NBA.

Searching @petethamelnyt on Twitter makes me chuckle at Cat fans. Pretty sorry bunch.

Rupps rafters and catspause are a joke. Anyone that thought he would play ball this season after the first ruling came down is borderline 80.

People had hope because of the Cam Newton situation, the Selby situation and 50 other kids that received more than needed.

The signing of their '12 class last summer and this Kanter deal has helped Cal shift the focus from this year's team. No way would he have wanted the microscope under this year's cats like there was last season. Worked out for him so far.

Oh well, glad its finally over. I kind of feel bad for the kid. His parents turned down major money to keep his amateur status because he wanted to play college ball. They kept meticulous records and did what they thought was right. Pretty nice of Cal to still want to be a part of his life...he said he'll be sitting in the green room with Kanter the night of the draft walking him through everything and showing support.

In regards to Cam Newton, the ncaa had proof Kanter accepted money. It was open and shut.

The "but he did it too" defense never works. With or without newton, Kanter was still a pro. Nothing else matters, no sympathy.

For the education argument, do you really think a foreign kid who probably knows 9 words of English is really going to value an education while he's trying to get to the league? How many hours was he planning on taking in one academic school year? 120? That's about how much you need to graduate.

A pro is someone who accepts money for services...he accepted money, but the argument was that he only accepted enough to get by.

Example:
A top private school can cost over 30 thou a year. Kanter accepted approx. 100 thou through his high school career for education, food, traveling and rent.

I understand you have no sympathy, its expected for you to feel that way. But if a kid keeps meticulous records since he was 13 in hopes that one day he can play college ball, and he doesnt get cleared....but others have broken MUCH worse rules and yet they still play? Somethings off.

Brandon Knight is, and he could go pro anytime he wanted. Knight has received straight A's all through high school and has a 3.9 at UK. Knight is one out of a hundred that actually wants to learn and graduate, but not all do. Patterson could have left after his freshman year, but ended up staying and graduating.

No, he speaks English very well. If Kanter was in it for the money, he would have accepted the 100's of thousands of dollars that was offered to him in Turkey. He turned it down so that he could play college basketball before going to the NBA. But I guess pimping out your child for millions like Cam Newtons father did is ok.

So you agree that education cannot realistically be a high priority for him.
