Bama doesn't want to lose the UT game and likely UT feels the same. I, for one am ALL for slowing this thing down and considering all the options(although id take mizzou over wvu ANY day). We've got a pretty good thing going here and I don't want to see it fall apart in the interest of short term profits.

The UT/Bama game survived the first expansion. It wil survive this one.

Too much paranoia

I think aTm got held up on votes initially too

These things usually have to be negotiated with concessions and compromises made first, etc

Just put Missouri in the East. Moving Auburn screws up the balance of things anyway.

Word that auburn may apparently (tifwiw) want to move east though...don't know whether they're tying that to their vote or not though

I want Auburn in the East

We will get the long rivalry again with Auburn

Rotate a different West team every year and have two permanent East/West Rivals

Easy, peasy, one, two, threasy

I'd rather not face a murderers' row every year. The SEC was originally set up in 1992 to split the six power programs into two halves. Missouri and A&M don't do anything to shift that paradigm, so moving Auburn over only screws that up.

If we're concerned about losing the Bama game then just move them East and have Auburn be their 1 rival. There are too many options that preserve the rivalry, they'll figure something out.

Except by bowl time, you are so beat up, a boise state comes in having played basically practice games all year and beats the crap out of you.

This expansion stuff riles me up a little. It it ain't broke, don't fix it. The SEC is the best conferance in football hands down. It is rich in tradition. I guess it all boils down to the all mighty dollar... To bad no one on the east coast is a good fit if we got to add someone. That would not upset the balance we already have. I guess I just don't like change, but change is the only thing that is constant.

I'm not sure how old you are but the SEC hasn't always been the top dog. Power shift is common and SEC needs to stay ahead of the curve to prolong staying on top. It may be hard for some to believe but SEC most likely won't be the best forever. If they sit by while everyone else expands, they'll still be forced to expand at some point. It's better to get your pick of the litter than take the left over scraps. Unless of course you want Memphis to join the SEC because that was all that's left. Gross

One source told the paper that “there’s a group of presidents that wants to sit tight, believing the SEC can do better than Missouri and that No. 14 should come from the East.”

Who?

Bottom line: Bama and UF coaches do not favor expansion because they have a natural recruiting advantage due to the pelthora of in-state talent in the states where they are located and they do not want to risk a leveling of the landscape when Texas becomes and open recruiting ground for SEC schools.

North Carolina State or Clemson are the only realistic options in the east, then. With either of them, you grab the Charlotte market (I realize Clemson is in SC, btw).

I went to their game this past weekend against GA Tech.

Bad. Not SEC material, and I'm not talking about their football team.
