A Marine from our my hometown got killed in action about a year ago and when they brought his body home to be buried, either this group or a group like this kept saying they were going to protest. They ended getting blocked somehow or just not a lot of them showed up but I heard that the same group had tried something like this in Mississippi and Tractor trailers got "accidently" parked in front of their hotel enter and exits.

Good to hear and like you said, kudos.

We had four teenage girls die in a car crash four years ago, the Westboro church claimed they would show to protest the funeral because they said it was punishment for their horrible lifestyles.

Three old ladies who seemed to be over 70 years old showed up. And did nothing. They seem to be much more known for their bark than bite these days.

Definitely like seeing the A&M kids show respect like that though.

A solider was killed in my hometown about a year ago now and they said they would show. Needless to say several local MC's derailed that plan.

Amazing! Good for you A&M. WBC makes me sick. I forget what talk show they were on but it caught my eye when I was flipping channels and they are seriously disturbed. A motorcycle gang did something similar to this I believe when they tried to protest somewhere else.

More than makes up for that cheesy video that they made for coming to the SEC.

Nice job by the Aggies. Sad that their efforts are getting more press than the man who was killed. Roy was a leader in the 1-509th, the dreaded OPFOR at Fort Polk, while I was there. He was a good man who will be missed by his family and friends. RIP

Ditto. One of the coolest stories I've seen in ages. We poke a lot of fun at other member schools of the SEC around here, but at the end of the day, this is what being human is all about. So much bigger than sports.

Good for them...I never will understand why someone would want to protest at someone's funeral....that would be the ultimate insult imo...

I both agree and disagree with this.

Sport is the only thing I know of in the world that can transcend everything. Sex, Religion, Race, Class, all of it. I've seen white Buddhist twenty year old college dropouts hugging 35 year old black Christian mothers because of football games.

And in most of the world Soccer is an even bigger deal, and unites and divides like nothing we can imagine here in america.

If you told me I had to unite a city divided by.... any conflict almost, I would use sports to do it.

No doubt sports are unifying, but this had nothing to do with sports. This was strangers stepping up for strangers, and it's awesome.

It's amazing to me that someone hasn't taken a few grenades to those sickos and ridden them from this earth. They don't deserve to breath, IMO. I feel so sorry for the kids that have to grow up with those insane cult leaders.

I am surprised by this as well. They stand out, unshielded on the side of the road and carry on. It just blows my mind that no one has driven up and unloaded a magazine on them or "run off the road" through their group.

If you haven't already, I would advise you all to check out the BBC documentary "America's Most Hated Family." It's worth the watch if you have some free time. Frightening stuff being taught in their compound.

As my dad is retired and has the time on the bike, he found the "Patriot Guard", which is the MC that was formed and was featured in one of the first videos that showed the group blocking out the WBC with hundreds of bikes and American Flags.

He now rides to military funerals all over the south, mainly TN and KY, both to cancel out these idiots, and at the request of the family. Fairly neat organization with a good purpose.
