Hell has officially frozen over and the end is nigh. Not really. They are loaded with numbers, not quality. In the end they will be improved over the past but will still be Kentucky. Top 20 at best.

I posted this in another thread (the Matt Elam thread, because it deals with him, too). Figured I'd share some laughs from Facebook. Actually, it's too pathetic to be funny......

From a Kentucky fan:

"Bahahaha! #1 in basketball AND football recruiting? Well I'll be....lol, bring it haters, tell me how we'll fall back down the40'a or 50's. Hahaha, it's a new era under a new offense, the Read Option Air Raid. Come be a hero, at Kentucky...WeAreUK! BBN"

"It's just going to stay top 5-10 with our top guys turning to 5 stars this fall. Matt Elam, a UK and Bama target (who we're definitely getting), got his 5th star yesterday."

I gently reminded him that Tennessee was going to skull drag the kittens this year, and every year from here on out. That should calm him down.

having worked close to meth country, we deal with the occasional ky folk. i always found it best to ignore them.

You've got to give Stoops some credit. If he can draw some players to KY then he has earned his paycheck already.

All joking aside, Stoops has done an excellent job getting kids to commit early and has swayed some good talent as well. Now with that being said, this is about the fourth thread on Kentucky's recruiting ranking in the past week.

18 commitments and a 3.22 star average. Quantity, not quality. Only reason they are #1 is because they have so many more commits than most schools.

I told you guys Stoops would recruit well.

They won't finish top 10, but Stoops is for real.

Fortunately, I think he will spell the end of Franklin's mini-run as they will go head to head for a lot of guys over the next couple years...Stoops will win.

I have a buddy in Lexington that is all homered up about Stoops and the recruiting, and is already predicting that the Kittens will be world-beaters in the very near future. I've had to remind him about a few things:

1. The last time the Vols were on the b-ball court with KY, there was a 30-point drubbing where the good guys won.

2. The last time the Vols were on the football field with KY (in one of the worst football years ever for the Vols), we dominated in spite of the fact that our lame duck coach had just been canned and wasn't even on the sideline.

3. While this recruiting class is impressive considering it's Kensucky football, it still doesn't change the fact that their current roster is chock full of 1 and 2 stars.

4. In addition to #3, it's not like they have a plethora of 4* or 5* in this current committed class that are going to come in and make a major impact in year 1 (or even year 2).

5. As others have mentioned, it is a lot about quantity over quality - a 2* OL pushed them to the #1 ranking - that tells you all you need to know.

6. They'll always be a basketball school.

7. Butch gets it.
