ACC Now - Coach K helps the local press | newsobserver.com blogs

Below is a response.

Dear Coach K:

I know you said the local press doesn't care about your team's current successes, and I agree - they should be chanting "Duke's Number 2! Duke's Number 2!" wherever and whenever they can.

But why limit this observation to the local press? Nobody in the world recognizes your accomplishments as a coach and human being! You are SUCCESSFUL AND MAGNIFICENT! If only SOMEONE in the media would give a crap about what wonders you've created at Duke, then perhaps you'd FINALLY get the respect you DESERVE! And perhaps people would treat you differently, and give you more opportunities in life, such as a TV commercial, or an opportunity to coach an esteemed team of professionals in a friendly international competitive event.

And perhaps, then, people would give DUKE the respect it deserves, and maybe the announcers and officials would stop criticizing and refereeing unfairly against Duke and perhaps give you the benefit of the doubt. And then, just MAYBE, an entire network will air 95% of your games on primetime TV and assign announcers to sing your praises throughout every minute of every game (including pre- and post-game coverage). And maybe even the refs could fall in line and start calling basketball games DIFFERENTLY at Cameron Indoor than they do in the other 118 college basketball arenas. We could even create a new system for playing basketball - one based on grabbing, bumping, moving screens, flopping, initiating contact, hooking on every drive to the basket, and then whining every single time a call doesn't go your way. Maybe then we could get players who do things like this:

YouTube - dook's (duke's) Greg Paulus flops (better quality)

or this:

YouTube - Cuyfrentizoun

IF ONLY THE LOCAL PRESS CARED!

Signed,

The world (i.e. those who aren't buying your BS)

LOL, "It's pretty damn good."

Hows life in the triangle treating you Tenn?

Good. I do like it here a lot. Especially as a college hoops fan - no better spot in the country for that.

And for all my b_tching about Duke, I love having the team I grew up hating right in my backyard. There's a lot about the university I respect and appreciate very much, but I can't help but still hate Duke basketball - goes back to when my old man was in college. And the fact that they are consistently in the mix year in and year out makes it more enjoyable as a casual fan.

I miss the place :frown:, but the weather is better here I guess.

And hey, you gotta hate someone, atleast you can admit you respect the place, thats more than alot of people admit.
