This will end up doing just as much damage to Memphis as the Darrell Arthur acadmeic fraud investigation did to Kansas.

Now that Calipari's gone, nobody cares. they will just be a middle of the road Conference USA team.

They will still be towards the top of the conference, just with some losses. That isn't saying much though.

There is no way they can keep playing an out of conference schedule like they had this year or they'll wind up with 10 losses.

I have a hard time believing they will not be in the top 3 of C-USA every year.

I guess my middle of the road in Conf. USA is the top three.

Miscommunication I think.

You are refering to middle of the road nationally, I thought you were talking about finishing in the middle of the pack in the conference.

Yep. A 8 or 9 seed team that gets taken down in the first or second round. Whoops, that was us this year.

Gene Bartow and Dana Kirk took Memphis to the Final Four. Larry Fich got them to a regional final. It's not like John is the only coach who ever won there. They won before he got there, they'll win now that he's gone.

Cal's been questionable at both UMass and Memphis... He will eventually make a dirty program out of Kentucky.

Cal runs his programs as close to the dark side as possible. Really, what top recruit would want to go to Memphis? Easy road to the NBA! He had to get dirty to get those players in Memphis. He shouldn't have to resort to these tricks in KY, but I wouldn't bet on it. They will be black-listed again in a few years.

UK statement:

UK has released an official statement in response to the situation in Memphis:

First and foremost, there are no NCAA allegations against UK Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Calipari. Coach Calipari was forthcoming with the University of Kentucky during the hiring process about any issues under investigation at the University of Memphis at that time.

It is normal procedure for the NCAA to ask a former coach to participate in a hearing. Therefore, Coach Calipari will participate as requested.

Coach John Calipari has received a letter from the NCAA stating that he is not at risk of being charged with any NCAA violations in this case.

This is a University of Memphis issue and the University of Kentucky will not comment any further.

No way. The program was on a pedestial and peaking, this kills recruiting and Fich and Kirk were in the Metro not the USA. Memphis will never get to a final four unless they UPSET higher seeds to get there.
