I would like to personally thank Meyer for challenging Slive on his rule over questioning the officials. I truly hope he doesn't get suspended

"That should have been a penalty, in my opinion," Meyer said today during the SEC coaches teleconference according to the Florida Times-Union. "You've got to protect quarterbacks. That's the whole purpose. It's right in front of the referee."

We'll just have to see now, won't we. Here's Slive's opportunity to look like he has no favorites. Funny how things happen sometimes...

This just in from SEC office...

Although it is our duty to protect our coaches, players and athletic institutions in the Southeastern Conference, we must draw the line on the criticism of our officials in games involving Alabama and Florida. We have completed an investigation of Urban Meyer's criticism of the referees in the Florida/Georgia game, and we have come to the conclusion that Urban Meyer is completely correct. There should have been a penalty flag thrown on the late on Dr. Tim Tebow and therefore the officials from the game have been suspended with no pay for life. It is also in our best interest to send out a letter of reprimand to Coach Lane Kiffin since he recruited the player that made the late hit, (rule B.S. 1vs2 line 4. Since this is Coach Kiffin's 3rd reprimand of the year, he will be suspended for the remainder of the season and will not be able to recruit players that Florida has shown any intial or recent interest in.

I may have missed it but I don't think Slive said next coach that does gets suspended. It was strictly for Kiffin and his prior "offenses". I could be wrong

Florida coach Urban Meyer says SEC officials missed late hit on quarterback Tim Tebow - ESPN

not sure if this counts as publicly complaining about the officiating because
Meyer didn't mention the play until asked about it Wednesday, possibly trying to avoid drawing punishment from the league. He also prefaced his comments by saying he has "great respect" for SEC officials and the way the league handles complaints.

but i doubt that slive even says anything to meyer about it. he'll probably suspend those refs though.

for that matter, i'm surprised slive didn't ban the guy from kentucky that gave tebow the concussion!

The SEC will not do anything to meyer---but I agree with him, it was a late hit. The refs aren't calling anything to help florida after they got the calls against Ark and Miss State.

"On rare occasions over the last seven years there were several private reprimands and that took care of the matter," Slive told the AP in a telephone interview. "On occasion there were public reprimands and that took care of it. It became clear to me after last week that I was no longer interested in reprimands and the conference athletic directors and university presidents unanimously agreed.
"For the foreseeable future there will be no reprimands," Slive added. "We will go right to suspensions and fines."

I'm guessing "foreseeable future" means it ended the day before Urban spoke

Phone conversation between Slive and Meyer:

Meyer: Heyyyyyyyyyyyy baby, just wanted to let you know that our little muffin Timmy got hit and the refs didn't call it, I want to see what my mikey bear is gonna do about it.

Slive: Oh honey, is my Timmykins ok?

Meyer: he's fine pumpkin, but what are you gonna do about those poopie pants officials that didn't throw a flag?

Slive: Sugar, with all of the calls you guys got during the Ark. & Miss St. games, I would look really bad now if I suspended the Georgia player. Please don't be mad at me baby.

Meyer: ughh I hate you

Slive: don't be that way baby, I promise I'll make it up to you, don't be mad at me honey.

Meyer: I want you to punish Georgia, right now.

Slive: Baby I can't, please understand.

Meyer: I knew it, your cheating on me with Saban again aren't you?

Slive: I only have eyes for you baby.

Meyer: Promise?

Slive: I promise, that darn Lane Kiffin is tearing us apart.

TEBOW: Urbie poooooohhh, I'm wearing the gag ball and hand cuffs

Slive: who was that? Where are you, what are you doing?
