You did follow the AD search that resulted in Currie being hired, correct? Fulmer and Blackburn were the favored, preferred candidates for that job by both the fans and basically all of the boosters except Haslam.Fulmer wanted CJP. They knew our very hungry fan base wanted a "big name" coach. Nothing less was going to do. They knew no "big name" wanted the gig. Pruitt was the best who wanted it. So how do we create momentum instead of a divided fanbase? Have Fulmer swoop in at the last second to save our beloved football program.
There was no need to, in fact, it would have been insane to, hire a patsy like Currie who they knew would screw up so Phil could swoop in. There was no need to create a situation that would allow Phil to swoop in. If they wanted him to be the AD all along, he would have been the guy instead of Currie. Given the nature of the situation at the time, your logic makes no sense.
