I seem to be more pessimistic than most this season. I'm going with 7. Lost a lot of key players. Feels like a rebuilding year. If we get to 8 wins, I'll be pretty happy.

Casey Clausen by a mile. The best QB on that list is debatable, but best as a Freshman is Clausen and it's not close. Ainge probably next best Freshman, but then had a Sophomore slump, before rebounding Junior and Senior years (with Cutcliffe).

Starting to think the real reason we've had so many WR transfers is that the WRs didn't like playing with Nico.

Recruited by Mike Leach at Miss State, the absolute master of QB evaluation. Would be a good pick-up.

I wouldn't undersell Nico. He was good and had potential. Remember, he was only a 2nd year player. At this point in their respective careers, Dobbs had only shown flashes and Hooker had only thrown for 1500 yards at Va Tech (and got benched the next season). But not worth the money. Moreover...

Crazy how good Jim Chaney was at QB evaluation. Hendon Hooker and Haynes King were his guys. Lot of bad stuff to say about the Pruitt era, but Chaney was never the problem. Always thought his hands were tied by Pruitt's outdated offensive philosophy.
