    UT Administration

I got to know Dipietro a bit and found him to be a likable, personable guy. It was fun to spend time with him. I hate it but, yeah, you're right. Bad stuff happened within the Athletics Dept. while it was under his watch. Probably more to do with Cheek, but the buck stops at the top.

You Just Don't Quarrel With The Volunteers Men

It offers a nice recruiting angle too. While all the other schools stood back, UT stepped forward to protect not only the best interests of our players but all players across the country. "Who can you rely on to watch your back, young man?"

    Coaches

Not exactly the same. The AD at the time Mike Hamilton wouldn’t pay what was needed to hire Fulmer’s top choices for a replacement OC. White doesn’t have the same agenda and won’t hang Heupel out to dry in the same way.

    Shout-out to Donde Plowman

Since she has served on the NCAA Presidential Forum, it's my guess that Chancellor Plowman not only knows those people at the NCAA headquarters but also has a pretty good understanding of how to deal with them. The steps she and the University and the State of Tennessee have taken with this...

    Orange helmets

They're an abomination created within the bowels of he77 by Satan himself who also possesses the fashion sense of a pizz ant.

How Tennessee beats Georgia next season…

Making costly penalties has to stop. This past season we had 101 penalties for 808 yards. Out of 130 BCS teams, we ranked 127 in penalties. You asked about Georgia, they tied for 22nd. We can't continue to make careless mistakes and hope to win against top opponents.

    Getting Over the Hump

Hamilton had a pattern of doing that because he was a bean counter who never understood how to be an Athletics Director. So, the exact same thing can be said when Cutcliffe resigned as OC and Hamilton blocked Fulmer from spending the money necessary to hire a proven top-notch replacement. Due to...

    Coaches and staff

Don't even go there. How did Butch's "hard" decisions work out for you? Butch was "like a CEO" but Heupel "is" a CEO who so far has proven capable of making the "right" decisions.

    The Death of Sports Illustrated

I have a copy of the First Issue (August 16, 1954) on my shelf. The colorful action cover photo is of a night game of the "Milwaukee Braves."Originally, SI covered a wide range of sports and the first article covers track and field. That's followed by great action photos of the Rocky Marciano...

    Poor Sportsmanship?

Well said. To imply that Coach Heupel is malicious or spiteful and that he intended to run up the score for emotional, childish reasons is ludicrous, unfounded, and uninformed. Heupel is a thoughtful program manager, and deliberate in every decision he makes. You're exactly right. He had some...

    1st jersey you ever wore

8th grade, long, long before the turn of the century. In fact, it was just past midway through the last one, (does that make you feel old, or what?) and the number was whatever it was the coaches assigned to me.

    Tennessee/Missouri apparel

The Ozarks around Mountain Home are really nice, and the trout fishing in the White River below Bull Shoals Dam is fantastic. Much of the western part of the state doesn't offer anything aside from duck hunting in rice fields.
