| This is a joke, right? Guy says we ought to adopt a gas tax to make sure that prices stay above $4 a gallon, and us the proceeds to give a tax rate reduction to corporations.
Who does he hang out with on the weekends, Forbes, Murdoch, and Trump? Why we need to keep gas above $4

| I understand the notion that high gas prices will lead to more conservation and alternative energy source development. But this guy evidently does not understand how much the dramatic and steep rise of prices over about a 24 month period has really put the squeeze on people whose salaries did not rise fast enough to keep up.

| Or that the individual reduction along with an increase in corporate use creates a wash... |

So you are against the gas tax? You know Obama wants to institute a WPT right? You know who will really pay that, right? |

Saw a thing on CNN this morning about how much the increase has hurt people, and who got hurt the most. For folks in Georgia and Louisiana, the extrra $2500 they are paying is something like 7% of their income.
Mock people all you want for being low income or for being bad with their finances, the reality is that a 7% direct hit, combined with an otherwise crappy economy, particularly for service workers, is going to hurt. Quote:

But I also know he'd have a tough time getting one through, that he really doesn't plan on getting it anyway, and that in the long run the tax wouldn't reduce the price of gas.
He's just taking advantage of people being angry at the enormous profits of the oil companies in light of what's going on.
I'll remind you again that I haven't made up my mind who to vote for. I have serious misgivings about both Obama and McCain.
Also, hell yes I am against a gas tax increase to fund a corporate tax reduction. A corporate rate reduction might make sense down the road, but not in the current state of affairs.

That defies logic LG. Do you believe that is gonna help gas prices? I doubt you do. Obviously you don't, from your very last sentence. So why be for it?
Who cares if he has a tough time getting it through. It shows he uses flawed thinking, why would you want to vote for someone that has that. |

It's the fact I'm not going to sit around whining about people making bad decisions and blaming the gov't. And the extra $2500 figure is a ridiculous amount of driving for someone who can't afford it. I guess ignorance of the law is a defense in your court?

A person driving 15,000 miles per year and getting 22 miles per gallon buys approx. 682 gallons of gas. At $4 a pop, that's a total of $2728 a year, not an increase of that amount.

I was wondering if your original statement actually meant they were commuting from GA to LA for work.
