The quarterbacks were OK, looking much better after Jones made the group restart the drill. At first, Quinten Dormady was a bit wild, while the receivers were dropping too many balls.
Interestingly, Mike Canales gave the quarterbacks a new look, offering a mild pass rush during the session. Ethan Wolf and Marquez Callaway both had a pair of nice catches during the drill.
With Rashaan Gaulden out, Baylen Buchanan worked at the nickel. The receivers during the drill were Callaway (on the outside), Latrell Williams in the slot and Jeff George at the Y.
Jones off the mic lasted three practices, apparently. The coach was back on the horn Tuesday.
SimontonTennessee tailback commit Trey Coleman was in attendance. The Louisiana native is on spring break and has spent the last couple days in Knoxville.
Baylen Buchanan was in the nickel spot with Nigel Warrior alongside Todd Kelly Jr. at safety. Marquill Osborne and Emmanuel Moseley were at corner. The front four from left to right consisted of Darrell Taylor, Alexis Johnson, Quay Picou and Jonathan Kongbo with Darrin Kirkland Jr. and Cortez McDowell at the linebacker spots.
Rob LewisA good number of offensive linemen looked to be having a maintenance day on Tuesday in addition to the guys who are already out for spring, so take the following alignment with a healthy grain of salt. Trey Smith was the first guy up at right tackle, with Jack Jones at right guard, Jashon Robertson at center, Ryan Johnson at left guard and Drew Richmond at left tackle.

Tennessee's quarterbacks and wide receivers were letting too many footballs hit the ground, so head coach Butch Jones stopped the period, the second of practice, and started the whole thing over.

Jashon Robertson, among other linemen, worked on snapping the football during early practice periods working with quarterbacks.
The first-team offensive line seemed to be, from left to right, Drew Richmond, Ryan Johnson, Jack Jones, Jashon Robertson and Trey Smith.
The first-team defensive line seemed to be Jonathan Kongbo and Darrell Taylor at end and Quay Picou and Alexis Johnson at tackle.

Rob LewisThomas was taking to the ER last night by roomates/teammates and Jason McVeigh with abdominal pain. Ended up having to have an emergency appendectomy. Reportedly everything went well and he's doing fine now but obviously spring is over for him.
That was the scene on the practice field on Tuesday afternoon when Jones told the quarterbacks, who were throwing to the receivers, tight ends and backs, to start the second period over because of too many balls hitting the ground. That was partially on the quarterbacks, who had a few balls behind the receivers, but also on some of the receivers who had some drops.
There wasnt much to separate Dormady and Guarantano on Tuesday. Guarantanos best throw was one down the sideline to Marquez Callaway that hit the sophomore receivers outstretched hands as he barely kept his feet in.
Dormady had a couple nice throws down the sideline one to Tyler Byrd and another to running back John Kelly. I also thought Will McBride had a nice day. He has a nice compact release that gets the ball out of his hand quickly and to the receivers quickly. By no means am I saying that McBride will be a legitimate contender in the competition this year, but there are certainly things to like about the freshman from Texas.
Daniel LewisCornerbacks Justin Martin and Baylen Buchanan were practicing in green, non-contact uniforms
On the defensive side of the ball, Darrin Kirkland and Daniel Bituli looked to be getting first reps in drills. Nigel Warrior and Todd Kelly Jr. were getting a lot of reps as well, but once healthy, Micah Abernathy will probably get back into the starting rotation. In one rep against the offensive line, Jonathan Kongbo completely blew by Drew Richmond. It was evident that Brady Hoke was pushing his group very hard in drills.
Nick DavisOverall, todays practice wasnt the best. There were flaws all over the place. Butch even made the entire team run through the second period of drills all over again, mainly because he was critical of the QBs and receivers.
