I'm not a Negavol or a Sunshine Pumper. I judge a coach by his resume. One look was all I needed to make be satisfied and even excited by this hire.

He has been successful at every stop till this point so I don't have any reason to believe that given time he will be successful here as well.

I do worry at his ability to recruit in the SEC but thats the risk you take when you hire an Up and Comer.

What sells me most on Mr. Tyndall is that like Butch he seems to genuinely want to be here.

At the end of the day I think Hart got the right guy for us. CDT is a High Energy, High Emotion guy that given time will bring a lot of excitement and success to UT

IMHO:rock:

In terms of recruiting, I've read multiple articles that reference his efforts at LSU- where they had several top 10 classes.. Late 90s I think..

Not sure how much he was actually responsible for in their recruiting process- but I think that does shed some light on the fact that (at the very least) he'll be able to hold his own..

MTSU had a top 25 recruiting class when he was there. Yes MTSU. Not sure how much credit he can get for that but I'm sure he contributed.

His resume is better than Martin's when he was hired. Maybe he can make something of this chance. We'll know by the first 10 games just like we knew with Pearl.

P.S.-Not many were excited about the Pearl hire even though he had just taken UWM to the Sweet 16.

UMW beat Alabama in the tourney back when Pearl was there iirc. And Bama seemed to have UT's number in bball then. After Pearl was hired, that changed real quick and TN started beating Bama, then they beat Kentucky, and so on.

Tyndall took Morehead State into the Sweet 16, too. I don't know if he will succeed or not, but right now he is our coach with a record of 0-0. I support him and hope for big things.

The sad thing aout our fanbase is that thereis a contingent that is never happy with anything. Even sadder is they now have a platform to spew their neverending negativity. Give the guy a fair chance and you might be surprised.

I don't understand. Why didn't Morehead St run him out of town after the 2008-09 season?

Probably because it was a 16 win improvement over the program 3 years before and it was their first NCAA tournament appearance in 25 years.

That's one thing Yahoo was touting about him...that he should be able to to recruit specifically in the SEC.

One think that really needs to be pointed out is the face that Morehead was 4-23 the year prior to DT. Thats right, only 4 wins.

This was a program that hadn't ever been to the tournament in the 64 team era. Their last win in the actual tournament was in 1961 prior to Tyndall beating Louisville. Oddly, in the 50 years between 1961 and 2011 they were in 5 tournaments and lost to Louisville in 4 of them before finally beating them in 2011.

So 5 tournaments in 50 years and Tyndall had 2 in a 3 year period, and the year he didn't Murray State won the conference and finished 30-4, 17-1 in conference, with that lone loss being to Tydall's Morehead team.

In ok w/this hire. At least he has a personality. I know more about him in 1 press conf than I knew about CCM in 3 years! I was "meh" when we hired Butch & that seems to be going just fine!! We need to back this guy from the beginning, like Butch, so we won't be like bammers when he starts to win, jumping on the bandwagon!
GO VOLS!
