I just did a little analysis of the "negative" plays UT has had this year. I counted a negative play as a (sack, run for a loss, penalty, or turnover). I may have missed a sack or two...or 10, but these are ball park #s. These do not count incomplete passes or runs for no gain. Scores include Field Goals. I got all this info off ESPN with the play by play breakdown and just hand totaled it up. Again, could be off by a little, but it is close enough.

Here is the game by game breakdown:

UT ST:
16 drives
10 total negative plays
6 drives with negative play (38%)
3 drives with multiple negatives (19%)
1 drive scored with negative play (17%)

ARK ST:
14 drives
5 total negative plays
4 drives with negative play (29%)
1 drive with multiple negatives (7%)
2 drives scored with negative play (50%)

OK:
15 drives
12 total negative plays
9 drives with negative plays (60%)
3 drives with multiple negative play (20%)
2 drives scored with negative play (22%)

GA:
15 drives
13 total negative plays
7 drives with negative plays (47%)
5 drives with multiple negative plays (33%)
2 drives scored with negative play (29%)

FL:
13 drives
15 total negative plays
10 drives with negative plays (77%)
3 drives with multiple negative plays (23%)
2 drives scored with negative play (20%)

CHATT:
13 drives
12 total negative plays
8 drives with negative play (62%)

3 drives with multiple negative plays (23%)
3 drives scored with negative play (38%)

OLE MISS:
14 drives
19 total negative plays
12 drives with negative plays (86%)
6 drives with multiple negative plays (43%)
1 drived scored with negative play (8%)

Long story short...we put ourselves behind the 8-ball quite often and the trend is not slowing down...:thud:

I mean CBJ doesn't keep saying these exact facts every press conference for no reason. Penalties can not happen on this team. We have to play 100% perfect football to win. That's hard to do with our current o-line state. We can't run effectively either which also contributes to these terrible stats.

The trend down and specifically UTC being similar to the others is really the thing that has people questioning if this is bigger than just the oline.

Nice work OP. And my wife/family wonders why I get livid every time we false start or take a loss on first or second down. Drive over.
