Hello. I was sitting in section K last night and a Vol fan about four rows in front of me was standing up and cheering for the Vols. The guy behind him politely asks him if he would sit down. He then says I am a VFL and cheering for my team. The fan then gets the cops to ask that man to sit down and he pleads his case to the cops saying he is cheering for his team. I had no problem with this man standing and cheering for the Vols. So why did the cops ask him to sit down? Didn't that man have the liberty of standing up and cheering for Tennessee? Thank you for your time.

If you're standing up the entire game and it isn't because you need a better view, you're just being a jerk.

What irks me the most is the willful docuhery from the "Must-standers". If someone behind you politely asks you to sit down because they can not see and you say no, then that is just pretty damn rude and inconsiderate. They came to watch the game too. Not the backside of your pants.

I see both sides of the issue. However if you were at movies and the person in front of you in a packed house stood up the entire time how would you feel?

Is being a jerk illegal? You're at a college football game. There's a chance MANY people will be standing. Probably for most of the game. Get over it or stand up.

I am an usher in the stadium. Whether it is liked or not, the person has a right to stand as long as he is not standing on the seat. The cop had no jurisdiction to make him sit, and the usher of that section should have told the officer to leave him alone. If the cop continued the issue, a stadium supervisor should have asked him to move on. I agree that there should be consideration for those who sit around you if you stand, but he really does have the right to stand up for the entire game. The police were out of line.

Yeah I'm sure all these awesome recruits want to go play in a stadium where everyone sits half the game.

It's part of it. Get over it.

This all day. Thanks for having some common sense.

Maybe the guy was handicapped and couldn't stand all night. I agree with VG. There is a time and place for standing up and cheering. Trust me, the players can't see you standing and cheering as opposed to cheering while sitting. To stand in front of others the entire game just shows you are an inconsiderate ass.

I don't have to. She can't stand very well and therefore doesn't
go to an event where lots of people stand for a majority of the time.

However my 80 year old grandfather is a stander.

Sorry. But it's stupid to imply lots of people stand the majority of the game. Student section maybe, but a lot of them are there for social hour. Most fans who buy a ticket go to watch the team play a football game. We stand when it's warranted, and sit the rest of time.

I hear this crap so much. Really thankful for the fans in X1 who never seem to have an issue figuring out when to stand and when to sit.

Yes. Hate to drop this on you, but there are inconsiderate *******s in the world. Does that mean a cop has the right to tell you to sit down? No. It doesn't.

Question why do ushers act like I'm killing some when smoking a vapor cig? Blowing off stadium sides. I was told once and he said if I see you again I will have police escort you out of stadium....

I wish I lived near you, Panic. I'd come stand in front of you everywhere you went because I have the right to. Seriously, I'd come stand in front of you while you're ordering food at McDonald's, while you're trying to watch your kid play a softball game, while you're trying to feed ducks at the park, while you're watching tv, etc. Because it's my right to be a jerk.

I prefer that people are considerate because if one stands, everyone behind him must so they can see too. It's not just the healthy robust person behind you, but everyone attending who is being blocked because of one inconsiderate person.

It's also stupid to imply that all students are there for social hour. I was a student once and would have to disagree.

I've sat all over Neyland Stadium and never had a problem.

That would just be weird. But yeah, wouldn't bother me a bit.

I go to the game to cheer scream holler you name it. If I want to watch the game sitting there with my arms crossed like I'm at church or something I'd stay at home and watch it in my recliner.. A lot more comfortable.
