Would it be better for those guys to go free agent now or can you still make decent money in 4th-5th rounds?

The only thing better about being a FA is choosing your best fit, but that's assuming there are multiple teams trying to get you into camp.

If a team invests draft capital in you, even as later round pick, it's a sign that they value you more than anyone they can pick up off the street.

The money difference in a 7th rd pick and a FA contract is probably negligible, but the chances of sticking with a team, and a longer leash are both more likely being a drafted player.

In short, being drafted in 4th rd>>>>undrafted FA.

Any player would rather say they got drafted versus free-agent especially in the fourth or fifth round

Dobbs should hear his name called in the fourth round, and JRM early in the fifth or sixth. His injury made him a forgotten man.

One or two more impressive catches last season, and Malone would already have cap hair. Several good receivers still available, so it is hard to guess where he goes.

Josh should take Boeing offer. Much better job in the long run.

Why can't he do both? The NFL does not last forever. He can go to Boeing after. Now if he thought he was on the fast track to CEO at Boeing maybe it is a wash after 5 to 10 years.

That's assuming they have a job available at that time. I'm not saying they won't, but it's awfully presumptuous to think they'll hold a job for 10 years for the guy.

Seattle would then be the ideal landing spot for Dobbs.

That is one of the dumbest things someone has posted here. Make a few million then take a job like that. Its simple.

Yeah. I wish I had a few million in the bank when I started working. The aircraft industry is not going anywhere

Watching the draft on the NFL Network and the picks are being announced today by fans of the different teams like Jim Cramer announced a pick for the Eagles and the creator of The Walking Dead helped announce a Los Angeles Rams selection along with fans like police officers and the Arizona Cardinals pick was announced at the Grand Canyon with Cardinals running back David Johnson announcing the pick and Reeves Maybin was just selected by Detroit.

NO. Average career of NFL player is 3.3. Starting pay for NFL player is $500,000 minimum.
3.3 X $500,000 = $1,600,000
Engineer starting pay maybe $80,000

$80,000 X 20 (years)= $1,600,000

If you have $1,600,000 and get 5% interest that is $80,000 per year.

He would probably make more than the minimum in the NFL, plus he would qualify for NFL retirement.
