LB: B-
DB: B
ST: C+

Coaching: D-

Tennessee's offensive line struggled to generate much of a push for most of the game against UMass, which entered the game ranked 119th nationally in run defense. The Vols allowed the Minutemen to rack up 12 tackles for loss; they had 21 in the first four games against Hawaii, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina and Temple.

When an offense is in the kind of funk Tennessee's was in the second half, an offensive coordinator has to have a couple of go-to plays he knows he can call and knows his players will execute successfully. That's how you break out of a slump instead of finishing the second half with 58 yards, 1.8 yards per play and four first downs, which the Vols did.

There's a heck of a curve going on if any position group on offense gets anything higher than an F. Coaching gets an F as well. I would give the Defense a C- for getting lucky that the backup QB had to play for UMASS. Otherwise we probably lose that game.
