Top 2 in income. Top 4 in facilities. Top 6 in wins over the past 100 years. Most passionate and involved fanbase in the country.

And the national media believes we should accept mediocrity?

Not us.

It's never a good idea to listen to folks who get paid to give thier opinion and don't have to do any real work.

All these talking heads have people behind the scenes to look up stats to make them look good.

The hell with what the national media thinks, why has our own administration consistently accepted mediocrity over the last ten plus years? Having built-in advantages like those described in the original post and not taking advantage of them represents gross dereliction of duty. Are those in charge incompetent, extremely crooked, or both? Kick-ass facilities are not enough to make the team appear relevant to outsiders; the program needs immediate positive results. The media is accurately portraying amateur hour as performed in Knoxville. Fans should show the same outrage at the disconnect between these numbers and the garbage product on the field that they generated for the attempted hire of Schiano.

Do recruits base their decisions on who has the best facilities or the best coaching staff? Tennessee's goal should be to check both of those boxes.

If you ain't first your last

Nah, it’s a subjective deal, beauty in the eye of the holder. You could probably put the first 5 or 6 school’s name in a hat and not be wrong regardless the order. Tennessee’s facilities are as good as anybody’s is the point, and lack of them will never be an issue for a kid deciding whether or not to go to Knoxville.

Unless an Op starts a thread that is an obvious troll job we should lay off on hammering him w insults. It discourages new posts from being made...and we need as many new topics as we can to keep things fresh. I think some wait in the weeds for a new post so they can take target practice just to be jerks.

IMO this is what happens when a program like ours gets taken over and run by the been counters. They are strictly balance sheet driven. The bean counters once in control do n ot put a premium on wins or championships. As long as they can maintain the revenues at high levels, butts in seats and gear purchases, they are happy. However like they always do it's never enough. To show their bosses how great they are doing at some point they begin cutting the exspense side. This is when we started getting bargain basement coaches. The last one of this ilk was Schiano at $3.5 million per year. Now we have a new AD in control of the UTAD and it seems on the surface a premium will be paid for wins and championships on Rocky Top again.

We're also now Top 5 in instate as well. Which wasn't the case 5 years ago. And is the last excuse the mainstream media had for why we should accept mediocrity.

There's literally no reason now for Tennessee fans to accept mediocrity.

We have everything we need to be a dominant power in college football outside of a championship coach and comptent athletic department. Hopefully Jeremy Pruitt and Phillip Fulmer are that now.

Every recruit makes his decision for different reasons. For some, the facilities are very important. Others, not so much.

Excuse my inability to have let swype/ autocorrect get one on me. But since we're doing this. Spelling bee should not have been capitalized using general terms.
VolForLife, you think people point out grammar faux pas to make them feel important? He probably had trouble decoding your message. Lol
