For everyone that is actually being real about this situation and understands that Jon Gruden will not be the next coach at Tennesse, let's have honest conversations about the potential next coach and some realistic ideas. No post about luring Bob Stoops, Nick Saban or Bill Cowher. Hopefully, I'm not the only one on this board that's list doesn't include

Gruden, Cowher, Saban, Muschamp, etc...

Let's wake up and talk about some real candidates (these are in no paticular order)

1) Charlie Strong - Turned L'Ville right back around, strong ties in FLA with recruiting
2) Jimbo Fisher - say what you want he can recruit and has FSU back in the Top 15
3) Al Golden - Don't want him, has never done anything in my book
4) Gary Patterson - Set in his ways, kind of a mystery hire
5) Larry Fedora - He wins, love him or hate him
6) Greg Roman - Would be a huge get, knows the game
7) Jim Tressel - Seriously doubt it with the NCAA hanging over his head and ours
8) Shaw - Would be a big hire. Wins and has never gotten blown out
9) Chavis - Kinda late name, obviously Les Miles thinks he should be our coach

It will be one of these three.

After Gruden, Fisher and Patterson are the obvious second choices. I don't know what to believe about Fisher but from what I've read about Patterson, it would be mighty tough pulling him from TCU. I personally don't see Mora Jr. leaving UCLA after one year.

If you have to go past these guys, Strong, Fedora then Golden. I don't know anything about Greg Roman.

Guys with NCAA issues (Tressel, Petrino, Davis) likely won't get the job considering we are on probation and Hart stressed he wanted to hire coaches with "integrity". To me that comment implicitly ruled out at least Petrino and potentially all candidates with previous NCAA run-ins.

I'd love Charlie Strong.

I'd like Fedora/Patterson/Fisher/Roman.

I'd cry if we hire another HFC with a losing record.

I feel like Fisher would just be another Fulmer from 1999-2004. He'd do well but wouldn't have UT sitting atop the SEC.

I agree, I would be happy with Strong or Fisher

Patterson scares me a little bit.

Haven't really thought about Chavis as much as we should I think.

I don't want Golden

I've not heard anyone suggest Muschamp this time around.

I would say that Jim Tressel belongs on your list of unrealistic candidates though. Got those Ohio goggles on I think.

(fyi, I'm not anti-Tressel, just dont think it would happen considering the NCAA trouble we've had recently)
