OK...UT is averaging 34.4 rushes per game right now. I hope they have 52 like in the Memphis game, but let's say they have 40 Sat. How many do each of the 3 get?

I'll go Coker - 22, Foster - 14, Hardesty - 4

40 may be about 5-6 too many imo...but unless Coker gets off to a slow start or is careless with the ball, i expect him to get around 20 carries and Foster will get close to or just above double digit carries. If both Foster and Coker are effective, i don't know how many carries hardesty gets.

I agree...40's just a good, round number and I'm not sure Hardesty gets any...I'm just trying to appease the MC Hammer lovers.

i know Foster has been cleared, but i think there still may be a question or two on how tender that anke really is...it will be interesting to see how he does with some real contact and he has to plant that foot...if he's running gingerly, they won't hesitate to pull him.

Hardesty is averaging 12.6 carries per game, so I really doubt that he doesn't get any carries. If they run the ball 40 times and they want to keep fresh legs in there at all times, and Foster is really healthy, I see it going something like this:

Coker - 18
Foster - 14
Hardesty - 8

Here's what I really see...Coker starts, gets a couple of series, Foster comes in, gets a series or two. The guy who is hot gets the bulk, the other gets seconds. If one of them is really off, Hardesty picks up the seconds. If neither Coker nor Foster is really off, Hardesty doesn't get much.

I would think Hardesty would still get more carries than Foster, just so they can ease Foster back into the action rather than throwing him into the fire.

In the end, we don't care who gets the carries, just as long as they get the yards.

Since we're all speculating.
I think Foster's so close to 100% that his health is not a factor.
I also think Cutcliffe's loyalty to experienced hands in a big game means Foster gets far more of the load than anyone else seems to believe. My feeling is that Foster is the key back in this game. And I don't think he'll disappoint.

Of course I haven't seen Arian run in weeks, so what do I know...

Do you slowly work in Foster or use him every drive? I see them giving Coker more playing time.

Foster getting the load will be great, he is a proven back... but I wouldn't mind seeing Coker come in and break a big one here and there. Either way I think our 3 backs give us a great compliment this week-end. Fresh legs, different styles and situations. Keep them Dawgs thinking... and we'll get them in the end.

you know that sure sounds good, but everytime i think about this kind of situaiton (player comes back from injury, where replacement players are doing well) i can't help but think back a few years when the Steelers lost Jerome Bettis midway thru the season..and Amos Zerowe came in and had a nice little stretch there and actually got the Steelers in to the playoffs...1st game Jerome is deemed fit to play...and they go back to him, and he sucked out loud and the Steelers lost....the whole time, even before that game i kept thinking...go with what got you there!!!!

For some reason, i feel the same way about this situation...

If you're right, Foster's unproductive and on comes Coker. We Win.
If I'm right, Foster plays big and... We Win.

Either way.... We Win.

knock on wood.
