Thought you guys might enjoy this quote from Chris Walker:

when asked,"If you could do one thing on the field at Tennessee what would it be?"...

Walker responded, "Probably knock Tim Tebow out. That's my goal because everyone is in awe of him and it's Tim Tebow this and Tim Tebow that. I just want that shot."

 :clapping:

Coaches just love it when true freshmen talk to the press.

At least he has a goal. I think it best that doesn't talk for a while.

I (Meule) hope he does knock Tebow the heck out. Tebow is cocky and arrogant. I would not pee on him if he were on fire. I don't like him.

Technically he's not even that. Love the enthusiasm but he needs to keep his mouth shut and do something while wearing a Vols jersey before he spouts off again.

Honestly, the game is so far away I doubt it will even be decent buletin board material by then. In fact, I am sure that sometime between now and then young Mr. Walker will be given a little "talking to" and, when asked about the comment by some sportswriter, will go on for about three minutes of rehearsed comment about how much respect he has for Tebow.

Or he could speak his mind on the subject and put up more bulletin board material. True freshmen that will probably wind up being RS get very little media time

Well I would like to knock Tebow out too so I can get to that girl. I don't see Walker walking in and knocking people out but good luck to him though.

justingroves, Fine Vol, and others,

Chris was in NO WAY being a cocky Freshman and "spouting off" as you put it. Chris does not have expectations of coming in and taking anyone's position. However, he WILL come in looking to play...that's the kind of competitor he is. He WILL work really hard to get to where he needs to be in the fall. Whether he will play as a freshman remains to be seen. As for him talking to the press (the media), let's blast him for a quote he made at the END of the article without really looking at the content of the article before the quote. Chris is a GREAT kid. He has a lot of GREAT qualities. I happen to know that personally. He has ALWAYS been a competitor. Whether he should keep his mouth shut is not for you to decide. If Coach Fulmer and his staff wants him to "keep his mouth shut" they will certainly tell him sooner than later. Chris' intent is not to hurt Tim Tebow. But I can tell you that if he is given the chance he will certainly put a good lick on him. That's his style...he loves to hit HARD! Chris has worked really hard since basketball ended to get bigger, stronger, faster in preparation for this summer. I would venture to guess that he will arrive in Knoxville ready to go. Just a suggestion, get to know Chris before you pass judgement on him. I think you just might like him. I certainly do. As a matter of fact, I love him!

Good. I'm glad he's working hard. I hope he does knock Tebow out. It does come across as being cocky though. Sorry if I offended you.

a little advice. don't read messageboards. very few of these people will know your son on a personal level. they will judge him for what he says and what he does on the field. chances are you aren't going to like what you read most the time. my $.02. edit: and this should be a lesson for the young man that he now has to watch what he says.

Nice post Brothermom. Curious as to your relationship to him, but it doesn't really matter. I am sure that he's a good kid and said what he said out of excitement at the chance to play some college football at the hightest level.

Having said that, my suspicion is that he has not played against a QB with the size, tenacity, fearlessness, and strength of Tim Tebow. I've watched him play and he just ran over several LSU linebackers last year. He'll go pad to pad with Walker, if the opportunity arises.

I never blasted him just suggested he might not want to talk about knocking out Florida's QB until he gets in a UT uniform.

There is a difference in commenting about what was said in a public article and judging someone's personal life.

Sounds like you have a crush on Mr. Tebow

agreed. tebow has proven himself to some degree, this kid has not. it doesn't come off as particurally mature to say such a thing. doesn't mean the kid isn't a great person.

It has nothing to do with cocky and everything to do with the bulletin board. I would hope that Chris would privately share intentions to knock Tebow out. In fact, I would expect nothing less. Part of the reason you come to UT is to knock the Florida QB out.

Part of learning to be a D1 college player is learning who and who not to trust with your words. It is simply a learning experience. From all accounts he is a bright kid with a bright future. He will be fine.
