I guess this is a fair indicator of how the fans feel about the upcoming season and the state of their program. Which leaves the Vols slowly falling behind. Let's all just close our eyes and drink the kool-aid as we slip into mediocrity.

Spring Game Attendance Figures
Alabama - 92,138
Arkansas - 2,000
Auburn - 31,757
Florida - 47,500
Georgia - 21,407
Kentucky - 5,000
LSU - 14,375
Ole Miss - 17,000
Mississippi State – 8,000
South Carolina - 35,153
Tennessee - 17,409
Vanderbilt - 2,000
TOTAL – 293,739 (Average: 24,478)

Yep, LSU is doomed. Ole Miss had a higher Spring Game attendance than they did.

This has nothing to do with anything and is not an accurate indicator of positive results the following season. After the '85 season. Vols had 75,000 at their Orange/White game in 1986. Record for 1986...6-5.

Totally meaningless.:ermm:

Spring game attendance is inversely proportional to quality of other entertainment options in the area.

Yeaah... Arkansas and Mississippi State's attendance numbers prove that.

it's true for Ole Miss. My sister goes there and I visit there sometimes and there's nothing at all in Oxford. They have one mall and it has a bookstore, movies, and JCPenny's in it. Other than see an Ole Miss sporting event (even that's not too fun to watch) there's nothing else to do there.

Spring games don't count for squat so many people don't bother to go watch them. You could wait and watch the highlights at utsports.com and get the same out of it than watching it in person.

can you argue that it's not a fair indicator of the level of excitement around a program?

yes i can argue that its not a level of excitement for the program. Half of UT support probly had a job to attend, while the toothless rednecks at UA had nothing better to do. Its a spring gm ppl, UT will always have 100,000 in attendance for their gms, how many other programs can say that?

Alabama had two things going for it. New head coach and a revamped stadium. We have neither, so there was none of the "I got to see it when it first happened crap."

The spring game sucks. I've been to the last two and would really like the university to apoligize for the giant waist of time it was.

So you're saying that LSU fans aren't excited about their BCS game win over such a nationally hyped team, or bringing in a top 5 recruiting class, or winning 11 games correct?

rexy really should've only posted the Alabama and Tennessee Spring Game attendance totals if he wanted a leg to attempt to stand on in this thread. All the other figures kinda shot this thread in the foot.

my whole point was AU, USC, UGA, Bama, & UF. LSU is an aberration (there's always one). Just look at the company we now keep..Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss State, etc.

Wow. And he actually believes this. :eek:lol:

Why exactly was LSU's total an aberration? Because it didn't go along with your pitiful claim?

how quickly they have forgotten 5-6, one mediocre season and a bowl game meltdown and it's as if it never happened

I thought we were talking about the Spring Game attendance? Make up your mind, rexy. That or just quit beating around the bush and blame Fulmer for the poor attendance.

Orange & White Spring Football Game :: <blank>

Only 15,400 for the 1999 O&W game. Definitely nothing to be excited about that season coming off a National Championship.

What about 1997? Peyton's Senior season and farewell tour? Only 18,420 came out for that barn burner of a Spring Game.

1998? Please, only 12,412 Vol fans were excited about 1998.
