The Michigan/tOSU game is November 17th. Assuming Michigan survives this weekend against Oregon and rallies to win the rest of their games before losing to the Buckeyes, that would most assuredly give the Wolverines at least a week head start on the Vols in searching for a coaching candidate to replace Carr. The Vols play Kentucky on the following week. They would have a head start in interviewing/contacting candidates and could have who they want in place by mid December, just in time to salvage their recruiting class. Mike Hamilton may have to be thinking about a replacement a few weeks earlier than the end of the season if he wants to guarantee a chance at taking a stab at some of the top coaches available before Michigan swoops in and scoops up the next Urban Meyer or whoever.

I think it is safe to say that Michigan and Tennessee would be the 2 premiere jobs going into this winter (provided FSU doesn't have one also). If the Ducks whip the Wolverines this weekend, however, the coaching search in Michigan could seriously begin Monday morning and Hamilton will have to deal with the leftover candidates anyway...

I doubt that you guys would be going after similar canidates because of the geography. Though I love how they are mentioning les miles as a posibility. Another guy like carr who has only won with another guys recruits.

What great coach would be available at this time of year?

Nobody. But Michigan AD might start getting a few names together on scratch paper if they lose this weekend. At the end of the season (or in Michigan's case after they lose to tOSU), there will be plenty of candidates they can seriously begin to inquire about.

WTF? Fulmer is not going any where until he decides to. Every one should just get used to it, that's just the way it is.

What has he done recently to deserve a lifetime coaching guarantee? We are the FSU and Michigan of the SEC right now...

Les Miles has been mentioned for this job (UM) while he was at OSU.

Ill be surprised if Fulmer gets fired even after a losing season.

As much as I'd like a regime change, its empty speculation until Fulmer loses at least 4 games.

If he goes 8-4, with a bowl win (making it 9-4), he will still be here.

If he goes 8-4, with an awful bowl loss, then it's up to debate.

If he goes 8-4, and any of those losses come against either Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Alabama. Then the poo might hit the fan. That goes with saying if we 8-4 and lose to one of those teams then we beat either Georgia, Arkansas, or Florida.

God, I'm really confused. What I'm really trying to get at is the seat will be hot as hell if he loses to a team he shouldn't.

We lost to Cal and they're calling for his head. I mean I was pretty much Anti-Fulmer after the Penn State game but the lack of urgency in the Cal game pushed me across that line.

I think a loss to Alabama may be enough to get the blue hairs angry enough to want change.

Lloyd Carr and Michigan's AD are good friends. I think I heard on College Football Live earlier that he has a job there until he's ready to leave. The AD said that. They said he was planning on retiring at the end of the year anyways and that the AD was just protecting himself. But, I don't see them doing anything until after the Ohio State game. I don't see Fulmer getting fired for losing to a team that is ranked ahead of him either. There are 11 more games, c'mon guys.

Face reality people, the worse loss in the last 6 years was to LSU in the SEC Championship game.

Then Spurrier left and Tennessee did not put a stranglehold on the SEC.

And now you want Fulmer's head?

As long as the $$$ is flowing......Fulmer till 2020.

Yeah, I agree with you there. If we lose to Alabama that might change the minds of those guys that come on here and say:

"I've been a Vol since 1899, and you all are stupid for wanting Fulmer gone. I bleed orange and would follow and support them if they didn't win a game in 3 years."

John Pennington said it best in his article the other day when he said, "UT has enough cheerleaders on the sideline".

It just don't matter. You ask the same questions a million times and the answers will always be the same. He's not going anywhere until he wants to. Its really that simple.

As far as John Pennington goes, until he straps on a helmet and actually plays the game his opinion means squat. He should stick to the song lyrics and leave the football to the folks that actually know a thing or two about the game. He just rehashes the info he gets from his media buds and puts his own spin on it.

I understand that UT can't win them all, Cal was ranked higher, it was the first game of the season, or many other points. My problem is that Fulmer's leash has been short for a long time now and he doesn't have room for much error in my opinion. Are there going to be 9-4 seasons at every program? Sure. Do they have them every year? We can't get to the point to where a 10 win season is reason for a parade. It's getting to the point to where we can't imagine an undefeated season or even one loss seasons anymore. We have to get that back before it's too late, before we accept 3 or 4 loss seasons as good seasons every year.
