I really liked the guy..but he is not honoring his commitment as a TN coach

Giles said Tennessee no longer looks like an option for him.

"I haven't talked to coach (Stan) Drayton in about a week and a half," he said. "I'm focusing on the other schools right now, I guess you could say."

Hammy should have got that waiver that allowed him to contact recruits...this staff is not working to get them

I read where he didn't follow through with it to allow his current staff to keep recruiting. Bad move

I believe he applied for the waiver, but it was denied by the NCAA since the staff was still employed. This is part of the down side of firing your coach before the end of the season, but letting him finish the year.

no...hammy said he stopped pursuing it to allow his current staff to continue recruiting....that is how i took it

anybody know for sure?

whatever happened to being a professional? shouldnt these guys be working hard just to show what kind of character they have?

I believe this is revealing exactly what kind they have

I do not know if any of the assistants have a desire to be retained by the new coach. But openly not recruiting hard during these last 3 weeks is certainly a good way to take the decision out of the hands of the new coach. No way the new HC is going to come in and keep an assistant coach who has stopped recruiting out of spite.

Now we know why he is an Urban Meyer reject. There is a reason they didn't want him around in Florida. I'll be glad when this staff is seen pulling away in their U-Haul for the last time.

Drayton was by no means a Meyer reject! Meyer was livid when Drayton packed up for Knoxsville.

Drayton did the same thing when he hosed UF on the way out of there. He needs to get off the recruiting trail right now and sent packing.

Very good friend of mine is a lifetime Gator and lives in Gainesville and said back when we got him it was a very bad idea because he has a problem coaching and getting along with other coaches..He said that as soon as we hired him that it was the worst thing we could have ever done because he did the same thing to Florida that he is doing to us now...The man can recruit but that is about it...I am ready for him to hit the road...If not now then sooner!

Everyone from Fulmer to the waterboy needs to pack up thier stuff and get far far away from knoxville. I never want to see anyone who had anything to do with this football program anywhere close to our sidelines ever again. They are all worthless and have disgraced the University of Tennessee.

Can Hamilton fire these guys Al Davis style ("for cause") and not pay them the rest of their salaries?

While I agree with the thread.. I can't really blame him for telling the truth (if that was the case).. If a recruit said "Well coach be honest with me, do you think you will be there next year?" It would be hard to tell a lie to someone.. Don't start bashing me.. I agree you should do a job if you are getting paid... It would be hard to tell a bold face lie though

who says you have to lie?

"Plans have not been finalized as to who will remain on staff, but I believe they will hire someone very capable of developing your talent if I am not chosen to remain. You will be in good hands. They hired me didn't they?"

He's paid to coach and bring in recruits to UT, not the U of Stan Drayton.

That's true.. You must be a manager somewhere.. That sounds like something my boss at work would say..:)
