I know some of you travel a lot. What's the best site to use to book a hotel? We are planning a trip to Destin next week to get away from all the negative that happened last month.

For hotels, I check Travelocity and Tripadvisor to get the best prices and then call the hotel itself. They almost always meet or beat the online price. While I'm talking to them I ask about any freebies and which rooms are best (newly remodeled, best views, least noise, etc). Just talking to them can get you a better room or you get some local info that you may miss otherwise.

I like hotelsdotcom. You get credit for each night you stayed(1 pt.). After 10 PT's you earn a free night based upon the average price of your previous stays.

Last month I paid $17 (tax) for a night at Hilton Garden Inn

The HotelTonight app is amazing. I've booked luxury 5-star hotels in Charleston and D.C. for like $120 a night. Also got Holiday Inn Worlds Fair Park on a game weekend for like $175.

Hotels.com is really good because after 10 nights stayed you get a free night based on your average rate paid. For last minute stays and you are sure about the area you want stay bookit.com is really good. I stayed at Caesars on the strip on a Sat night for $60. It's normally about 250

I usually book direct for hotels. For houses or condos I go with VRBO or airbnb.

This you can get the same or better prices that you get on third party sites. All you have to do is ask. For fun places I use jet setter
