Transfer specialist lawyer Tom Mars discusses Aubrey Solomon case

So basically, due to their professionalism Pruitt and UT staff got waivers for players transferring out but a player transferring in like Solomon is pretty well F@cked because of the incompetence of Michigan compliance department and the pettiness of Jim Harbaugh. Got it!

Well Harbaugh has called out the SEC as cheaters. He’s just deflecting the attention off himself and the lackluster job he has done thus far outside of what he promised. Drama queen
He can't even beat Ohio State or Michigan State. Own your own backyard, before you start pissing on your neighbor's yard.

“I hope he gets a waiver because I hope every kid gets a waiver and the ability to transfer at least one time without penalty,” Mars said

This is how it should be until you graduate. One transfer w/out penalty out of your conference. Still sit a year if its in conference. Grads can transfer once or until eligibility runs out. No questions asked. Simple and everyone plays by the same set of rules.

This gives the player some due diligence and leverages against bad and unethical coaches (like Harbaugh.)

Mars says of Pruitt:
“This is not a letter writing campaign and letters of support based on my experience has nothing to do with the outcome. Nonetheless, I do admire him and he is an all-around good guy, as I have heard from other head coaches.”

I know for most people it is "just win baby win", but regardless of what happens with Aubrey, I am glad we have a coach that does not get called a douche bag by everyone, and is a person of good character. This will reflect a positive light on the program. Now if we can start winning I would ALSO like him to be FEARED by others in the country. Let's get it done coach!

“Ohio State, in my opinion, was the gold standard,” he said.
Mars views Tennessee’s compliance staff as the next best thing in comparison to Ohio State.
University of Tennessee’s Andrew Donovan (Senior Associate Athletics Director for Regulatory Affairs), who is the head of compliance, and Adam Tate (Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance) stood out to Mars when discussing the Tennessee transfer case.

“The talent, experience, knowledge, investigation that those guys brought to the process was as close to Ohio State that I have experienced,” Mars said. “They were really sharp.
“I think Donovan has the best written advocacy skills ever that I have seen from compliance. He is diligent and thorough. I do not know what the facts are of the waiver request submitted by Tennessee, but I am sure the advocacy submitted by UT compliance would have been at the highest quality. Whatever the outcome is of the Aubrey Solomon case is, if he becomes eligible hats off to UT’s compliance office. If he does not get a waiver, I am sure UT submitted a request of whatever the evidence is, was as good as a job as anyone.”

Sounds like UT is being the best advocate for Aubrey that they can be.

We need our Twitter thugs to start tweeting out messages like: Don't go to Michigan, Hairball is a douche, and they will not release you.

That'll teach'em!

Kidding, but not kidding

I thought that part was a little odd too. Wish that had been fleshed out a little more.

“Fleshed”.

Harbaugh is an egomaniac. Mich Ath Dept probably said he transferred due to playing time.

Jimbo does support a one-time transfer policy but he clearly would not go out of his way to write or support a player leaving U of M. Why leave the co-East champions who travel to meet the Pope or other worldly places each year.

Pruitt is used to being in programs that dont worry about something so "small" as releasing a top player, even to a competing program. Sure it helps with recruiting for players to know that but mostly I think it is that Pruitt isnt running skeered. At bama, you want to go elsewhere? ok, next 4-5* is up from riding the pine to fill your place. That is the water he has been swimming in for quite some time and where he is expecting to get us to in time. Meanwhile, you go about things "the right way" with kids and they (and their friends) remember....and talk. Thats how you maintain top recruiting coaches.

Are you sure of this? Saban is the biggest opponent of grad transfers out there. See Kennedy.

I dont disagree that Saban slaps the NCAA around like redheaded step child but Pruitt knows we dont have that power yet. I am just saying that Pruitt himself is not running scared of losing a guy and is used to having talent to re-load with.

This will definitely hurt Michigan and Harbaugh with future recruits. I now hate Michigan worse than Ohio St.

Well Shea Patterson had a justifiable reason for transferring from Ole Miss to UM. In Solomon's case he was injured for a large part of his last year at UM. If he doesn't get the waiver then is a medical redshirt possible in his case? The transfer rules are supposed to deter students from transferring and that is understandable but in Aubrey's case he didn't play much for UM because of injury. I'm hoping they will see that as the year lost. Harbaugh doesn't like the SEC because of the frequent azz-whoopings he takes in bowl games.
