“Ohio State, in my opinion, was the gold standard,” he said.
Mars views Tennessee’s compliance staff as the next best thing in comparison to Ohio State.
University of Tennessee’s Andrew Donovan (Senior Associate Athletics Director for Regulatory Affairs), who is the head of compliance, and Adam Tate (Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance) stood out to Mars when discussing the Tennessee transfer case.
“The talent, experience, knowledge, investigation that those guys brought to the process was as close to Ohio State that I have experienced,” Mars said. “They were really sharp.
“I think Donovan has the best written advocacy skills ever that I have seen from compliance. He is diligent and thorough. I do not know what the facts are of the waiver request submitted by Tennessee, but I am sure the advocacy submitted by UT compliance would have been at the highest quality. Whatever the outcome is of the Aubrey Solomon case is, if he becomes eligible hats off to UT’s compliance office. If he does not get a waiver, I am sure UT submitted a request of whatever the evidence is, was as good as a job as anyone.”
Sounds like UT is being the best advocate for Aubrey that they can be.
