Inside linebacker’s coach Kevin Sherrer was red hot Tuesday, getting into a shouting match with Daniel Bituli after a couple poor reps. The linebackers were working on nickel-run fits and shedding blocks against a scout team look, and the scout teamers, including freshman tight end Jackson Lowe, kept screwing up the alignment, initially drawing Sherrer’s ire. Then Bituli barked back about a mis-fit and it set Sherrer off, who kicked a trash can in frustration.
Elsewhere, the quarterbacks and tailbacks were working on lots of quick-game stuff, with a new drill tossed in, too. The Vols worked on some speed option today. In terms of reps, JT Shrout took as the snaps behind Jarrett Guarantano. Tim Jordan also assumed the No. 2 back reps ahead of Eric Gray.
Wanya Morris and Jahmir Johnson were at left tackle, with Marcus Tatum repping behind them. The right side of Darnell Wright and K’Rojhn Calbert stayed the same. Chaney was hard on Wright today, demanding he “finish” his run blocks.

Yet the Vols had sign reading "101°" posted near the clock on the video tower in the middle of two practice fields. It was 91 degrees (with a feels-like temperature of 93) in Knoxville on Tuesday afternoon, but in Gainesville it was 95 on Tuesday with a heat index of 98. The forecasted high for Saturday's noon kickoff is just 87. Yet Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt one day early in the preseason made a comment about how it was 103 degrees in Knoxville, so the temperature graphic may have been a sort of motivational mind game for the Vols as they prepared for the Gators.
Crouch spent a good portion of one period on the stationary sled getting some one-on-one coaching from position coach Chris Rumph with the emphasis on hand placement and hand violence. Crouch got a few extra reps with Rumph before the two rejoined the rest of the group in pass-rush work under the chute.
Banks was out there practicing normally with the linebackers as they focused heavily on run-fit work. Banks was part of the second tandem with Will Ignont after the first group of Daniel Bituli and Henry To'o To'o got numerous reps with position coach Kevin Sherrer and a few scout-teamers.
Thompson was practicing on Tuesday as if he'll play, but he was doing the same in individual drills on Wednesday of last week, too, so maybe not much to read into there.
Offensive tackle Jahmir Johnson, who was held out of Saturday's game against Chattanooga, was practicing normally during drills on Tuesday
Tight end Austin Pope has turned into Tennessee's version of the Six Million Dollar Man. On Tuesday he was sporting a protective sleeve on his arm and had his right ankle noticeably taped as he went through run-blocking drills.

At outside linebacker, Darrell Taylor and John Mincey were the first pair through drills on the sleds. Roman Harrison and Quavaris Crouch were the second team outside linebacker while Deandre Johnson and Kivon Bennett. Darel Middleton worked in with Crouch.
Offensively, the O-line went through drills in which they were working on blocking during draw-plays. It was the usual lineup, with the only noticeable change being that Marcus Tatum was working at left tackle with Jahmir Johnson and Wanya Morris.
