Always enjoyed his segments in the afternoon. Everyone said he was a class act. God speed
VFL and SEC referee Rocky Goode dies at 66

I don’t know. I thought it was wowed they replaced him earlier this year. I haven’t heard anything else about it.

So sad to hear this. I had the pleasure of meeting him and going to church with him. My family did Trunk-or-treat at church parked right next to him a couple of years ago. Wonderful soul to talk to and super funny.

Knew Rocky well. Great guy and so kind to me and my family. He grew up a tough kid and played at UT under Battle. He has been sick for a spell but this is still sad.
Rocky was all Vol and he was one heck of a referee. Godspeed Rock !

He was so nice to me and my dad a few years ago at the Roast of Phillip Fulmer. He took it upon himself to come talk to us. I think he could tell we were out of place as we weren't hob nobbing with all the famous or wealthy people. He was real down to earth. I enjoyed him on radio too with the rules that the other guy does with Jimmy Hyams now.

I saw him in the gym late last year or early this year. He didn’t act himself, seemed like he had something going mentally. He was always super nice to everyone.

Probably should have known Rocky since I was only a few years ahead of him at Bearden, but don't guess we crossed paths. I did talk to him on air a few times and appreciated his efforts though he was prone to avoid providing real answers with a what the rule book says statement rather than taking exception with other officials interpretation of the those rules. But I guess that would have to be done since he was going into the replay booth again the next week.... but as indicated was always friendly and polite... Really sorry when we lose true VFLs so early.

He was a very good all purpose football player at Bearden. Good all around person. Ill miss him.

I worked the summer after HS graduation with him at Lenoir Industries in Lenoir City, He wasn't stuck up or anything. He was a hoot to be around, RIP Rocky......

Casual friends in college and like so many of those,moved on and lost touch. Last saw him about 15 years ago at some UTAD function and ate together. A straight guy and a great official from all I saw and heard in Birmingham. God give you peace and rest, Rocky.

My friend I have known since you were in 8th grade at Northwest. My former high school and college teammate. I looked forward to sharing more time together with you in our advancing years. Rest in Peace Rocky.
