But even though I can't recall specific games or plays out of thin air, when I watch old highlights, I can anticipate how the play will unfold just by seeing the beginning of it. It comes back to me. Also, I remember names of players by their numbers and how they move. Anyone else like that?

Actually he was getting beat up a lot and was a versatile receiver out of the backfield. His skill set was better suited for a hybrid TE/WR.
