Would UT accept a bowl bid with a 2-8 or 3-7 finish?

During this pandemic it's most likely the Bowls can choose who they want to play despite the win/loss records. The attendance certainly won't be a factor but TV ads will still sell.

If some bowl execs think an 2-8 Vols would get better ratings than a 5-5 SW Louisiana Weedeater Repair Tech, then it'll happen.

As Clint Eastwood once said however, deserves got nothing to do with it.

Fans travel, money talks. At this point no one cares about records, it's why we've seen 6-6/ teams invited in the past and 5/7 teams considered.
It's pretty freaking sad.

We would definitely go for the extra practices. Would anyone here actually travel to the Brown Squirrel credit union football and bingo bowl?

It would be very Tennessee of us to accept a bowl bid at 3-7, spend more money then we make to send the team to it, and then lose to a less-talented team, even with those vaunted 14 extra practices.

Maybe JG could use the post-game press conference to announce his intention to return in 2021 for 'Unfinished Business' redux.

Another question, how many would watch a bowl game between two teams with records that bad?

How embarrassing and selfish is that?

Taking a bid when you don’t deserve it nor have you put in the effort to deserve one. More importantly only taking it to pad your wallet regardless of the curb stomp that would come.
