Just paid Army $500,000 to cancel the contract and not play next year and replaced them with Akron. Now Army is without a game next year. Any details on any other reason we would have dropped this game?

Fulmer/Pruitt started the process to buyout the game. Hart is who scheduled it. Akron is charging 1 million. Army was going to charge 1.4, so we are losing 100k. Not much good comes from playing Army while they run the triple option. It's just a random game you have to prep for in an entirely different manner than every other game on the schedule.

So you are saying we just got out of a loss?

Army 5 years running:
3-0
9-3
5-8
11-2
10-3

Akron:
1-2
1-5
0-12
4-8
7-7

One is a guaranteed win, one is not, and would be a grind out game before Florida.

A bowl will pay more than 500k…….Tennessee is and has been way down……right now their trying to get bowling again……sounds like priorities are in the right place to me.

It’s not like they don’t already play Bama, Florida, Georgia, LSU and play Pitt non conference.

No if you read what others have mentioned. Injuries are more likely with philosophy of the academy schools. And yes that philosophy can sometimes sucker in your linebackers trying to be glory seekers and you have to be disciplined playing the academy on the triple option. So they get out of groove and with a game as big as Florida the game following you dont want your linebackers changing timing and techniques between games as important as that.

Army the past 5 years has generally gotten up for games against bigger names.

They took at the time at least highly ranked Oklahoma and Michigan to OT in the past 3 years. It would definitely at the least likely be a tough W.

So don’t play a team that can beat you? I wonder why this game was ever scheduled. Army’s talent even now is so far below ours it don’t matter if they ran a quadruple option we should play and beat them easily. This just looks bad.

Don't play a team that runs a completely different offense than everyone else you play during a critical part of your season.

Don’t worry Tennessee will probably play them in a bowl game.

Army will win in the last seconds by some strange rule miracle.

During the off season the NCAA will change the rule.

It will be a basic rule the NFL has had in place for years but NCAA has been to busy with interest-free loans & investigations of Oklahoma Tech to consider.
