KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Riding high after a series sweep of Missouri over the weekend, No. 3/3 Tennessee will look to extend its win streak to seven games when it hosts in-state foe Lipscomb on Tuesday evening at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols enter Tuesday's contest with a perfect 11-0 record in midweek games this year and have scored double-digit runs in each of their last six midweek games.

BROADCAST INFO

Tuesday's game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app with Andy Brock on the call.

Fans can also listen to John Wilkerson and Vince Ferrara call the action on the Vol Network (FM 99.1/AM 990). A free audio stream will also be available on UTSports.com, the Tennessee Athletics App and the Varsity App.

PROJECTED STARTING PITCHERS

LHP Dylan Loy (3 GS, 1-0, 3.14 ERA) vs. RHP Ryan Kutz (6 GS, 0-2, 7.63 ERA)

SERIES HISTORY

Overall: Tennessee leads, 13-2
in Knoxville: Tennessee leads, 10-1
in Nashville: Tennessee leads, 2-1
at Neutral Sites: Tennessee leads, 1-0
Last Meeting: Tennessee won, 10-0 (March 14, 2023 in Knoxville)

The Big Orange have faced off against the Bisons in every year but one since Tony Vitello took over as head coach and are 4-1 overall in those meetings. Both teams were also in the NCAA Clemson Regional in 2023 but did not play each other.

NOTABLE

Home Sweet Home Field Advantage
The Vols have been extremely tough to beat at home over the past three-plus years thanks in large part to having one of the best home field advantages in college baseball. The Vols are 144-23 when playing at Lindsey Nelson Stadium since the start of the 2020 season, including a 30-2 mark this year, marking the program's fourth consecutive season with 30 or more home victories.

UT's 30 home wins this season are the most in the country while their .938 winning percentage at home ranks fourth nationally. Including Tuesday's matchup, the Vols have just six more regular-season home games this season.

Bullpen Shines in Sweep of Mizzou
During UT's series sweep of Missouri last week, the bullpen allowed just one run over 13.0 innings pitched for a 0.69 ERA while combining for 11 strikeouts and just four walks.

Midweek Dominance & In-State Success Under Vitello
Tennessee has been nearly automatic in midweek games under head coach Tony Vitello, posting a 75-10 record during his tenure, including a 65-6 record since the start of the 2019 season. The Vols are a perfect 11-0 in midweek contests this season.

UT has also had great success against in-state opponents over the past few years, posting a 15-2 record since 2022 against fellow Volunteer State foes (2-0 this season).

Lipscomb is RPI #228 and have been pretty "consistent" all season. There's a solid chance UT will drop from #5 even with a win. However, of the 3 teams behind UT in RPI, only North Carolina (#7) has a midweek game as the Heels host #107 Charlotte.

Lipscomb did win 2/3 against Florida Gulf Coast (#153) over weekend but lost at # 224 Tennessee Tech.

The Bisons have played several other SEC teams. All on road
…..….…0-3 vs. Kentucky
…..….…0-3 vs. Alabama
…..….…0-1 vs. Vanderbilt.
None of those seven games were particularly close as they were run ruled once by UK and once by VU.

Lipscomb is
…..….…0-7 vs. Quadrant 1 (All SEC teams above
…..….…1-4 against Quadrant 2 (1-2 against Xavier /0-2 vs Louisville)
…..….…2-5 again Quadrant 3 (win against Memphis and MTSU)
…..….…15-27 against Quadrant 4

Xavier is clearly their best win
North Alabama (#278) is their worst loss but Bisons still won the series 2-1

Lipscomb sits #6 in the ASUN- who I feel is having a down year. However, their membership has change a lot recently as they've bled good teams and accepted lesser teams.

11..North Alabama.. ....6-15…...286…..9…...….278

In the past, this conference had some better baseball programs including Florida Atlantic, Campbell, Belmont, Mercer, and SC Upstate. This is definitely a 1 bid league.. Austin Peay is the best offensive team by far; but Kennesaw is the best team overall. Both have 3 Q1 wins. IMHO, Tennessee plays too many teams at at the bottom of this table. (in blue)
The conference tourney is at Stetson so even though Kennesaw and Peay are better teams, Stetson has a better than average chance to be AQ.

After Tennessee, the Bisons's last three conference series are @ Central Ark., Bellarmine, and @ Kennesaw but have a midweek game next week against a woeful MTSU team (#226)

Offense
Lipscomb is batting .266 as their opponents are batting .310

You can rightly infer that Lipscomb is a rather "woeful" offensive team

The pitching stats are even worse as the Bisons pitchers are better than their opponents at only 2 categories (in
red) They do limit their walks but do get hit and hit hard.

Lipscomb has four batters with OPS exceeding 1.000- 1 is at .906
Tennessee has eleven with 2 over .900
