Hadden is the 3rd DB drafted in Heupel’s 3 years.

Some of y'all better start giving Coach Martinez some credit for developing his players. Nobody would have ever expected Hadden or Jackson to get drafted.

For context, we've only had 1 DL drafted in 3 years.
Agreed. Hadden went from a weak link to pro. That’s coaching. Effort too of course.

Didn’t check super thoroughly but it looks like we have averaged less than one DB per head since the year before the NC Champ team. So, slightly better than that.

Word!

But I don’t think anyone goes in 2025 draft tho!

lol. Taylor was a SR when Martinez started. He was already developed. Hadden went in the 6th round. You make it sound like WM did an amazing job. He didn’t.

The fact that you are trying to compare WM to Garner is pathetic. Garners group is technically sound and makes the DBs look better than they are. So the standard for WM is getting 1 guy drafted a year? Wow the bar is really high.

Martinez sucks. Our CBs are not fundamentally sound nor do they do simple things like turn their head to find the ball.

That DL number is about to change. Just look at the amount of 5th and 6th seniors we have on the roster. And JP will be top 5 pick next year at that. Big O could have been drafted twice already had he decided to come out early. I expect UT to have at least 3 DL in next years class drafted.

Garner has sent Matthew Butler and Byron Young to the NFL and as noted above, could have sent Thomas but thankfully he stayed.

Hadden's speed got him drafted. Until this year, JH couldn't cover or tackle. And he still whiffed vs bama before he hurt his shoulder playing tough guy .
Hadden’s play got him drafted. He was the best cover corner in the conference before he went down.

Can’t wait to see what Willie does with the group this year.

Yeah... I'm not buying, but not selling either. I have never been impressed with CWM, but I can also see that there was a serious lack of speed and talent in the secondary the last couple of seasons, so I gave him some grace. He's been doing it at a high level for a long time, so he must be doing something right.

Oh you mean when someone finally told him to turn his head around and look for the ball? Like midseason during a game he had gotten burned on? I'll admit he did improve, but if you recall his tender years he was atrocious. Getting dog cussed right here.

Lol people think this is what makes a good DB. One of the most annoying Volnation myths.

Folks that think it’s that simple don’t know much about DB technique.

Martinez has always gotten guys drafted. That’s never been the knock on him. He’s always gotten guys in the league, it’s just the unit as a whole has always under performed with him. I like Martinez, buts it’s now two different coaching staffs that he’s pretty much had the same production with. I need to see that unit as a whole get a lot better this year.
