We had been playing football for at least 15 years before that picture.

There is a distinction between the first teams that played for Tennessee, and then the first uniforms worn as the thread asked. I imagine the first teams didn't have a coordinated uniform. This is based on an original 1902 team picture I have where the team was wearing a mix of clothing dressed in their attire.

When Coach Heup got here and when started wearing the greys again. We wore the original design in 22. After that its been the plain stripe across the helmet.
