ESPN writer Max Olson shows Tennessee has the best stop rate in FBS.

Assuming Tennessee can keep up this lofty stat, it should help us with the playoff committee’s eye test.

You remember Chavis much different than I do. I mostly remember 3rd and chavis against UF year after year after year.

Chavis was good for us over that period of time.
His defenses did get exposed in Prevent situations and Mustang packages from time to time, but were exposed by a mobile QB every time.

Chavis' UT defenses had a 75% percent success rate when the opponent was facing a 3rd and long situation or more precisely, a situation where the offense needed to gain 6 or more yards.
Our 2024 defense has a 74.2% overall stop rate.
Chavis deserves another look from the fanbase.

I don’t know how much the committee puts on just stats like this. It can’t hurt though.

It never hurts to have a flashy label saying “top defense” or “top scoring offense”.
