Bob Kesling to Retire

Bring Mike Keith back to Knoxville. He was taught broadcasting at UT while John Ward was calling games.
Rumor has it, it came down to Bob vs Mike and the higher ups choose Mike.
Thanks Bob for the years of miss pronouncing players names, giving the wrong score and play and just babbling for no reason. Have a great retirement, you’ve earned it.

He had some big shoes to fill when he started. I think he has done a fine job. He loves Tennessee, loves the Vols and I am gonna miss how he and Coach Barnes go at each other after the basketball games. I know I poke a little fun occasionally when he botches a name or something, but it’s all in fun. UT is gonna have its work cut out trying to replace him and he deserves the accolades that are coming his way.

I highly doubt even if Mike Keith comes he is going to be willing to do football AND basketball

He calls games nothing like his highlight reel, tribute video that they just played at Neyland suggests. Somewhere he lost the enthusiasm.

Happy retirement, Bobby.

I'm old school, I really don't want different announcers for football and basketball. I know it's a different age and I know one person can't do everything but to me it always made the athletic dept feel more unified.

I don't know how much experience Keith has with basketball though.

One of my favorite Kesling flubs was when he said in a game "slammed back by Bradshaw!"

The ball was slammed by us, but it sure as heck wasn't Bradshaw.

I don't doubt he could do it, I just don't see him leaving his current situation to take on a bigger workload at his age. But if they money is right, who knows.
