westwords It was supposed to be a close basketball game, maybe even a signature win for Louisville’s new coach and his 15 transfer stars gathered from all over the jump-and-shoot world.
There was a lot of preliminary excitement, almost 17,000 raucous fans dressed for a ceremonial whiteout of the Volunteers. The big event became a depressing wipeout for the Cardinals.
What happened was Tennessee dominated on defense, hit one more than half its long shots, seized ownership of the backboards and won in an absolute romp, 77-55. westwords
Great job Mr. West! Read the entire story, yall, one of Marvin's best! 1731250282315.png

I really didn't have the feels coming in to this after the last 2 games. But Barnes coached a real rotation and that D tormented UL into many many hurried shots that made their % look horrible I'm sure. We have some real players and a coach who knows how to make it work.

Could have made this a massive route, but our ball security in the last ½ of 2nd Q through 1st 10 min of 2nd ½ was atrocious. OTOH, the were definitely playing loose during that time, which has not always been there the past several years.

I loved that this game was in such a packed, hostile environment..Louisville might be good down the road but they were wearing their ass for a hat after this game..CRB might just have another deep tourney run with this team..Man did they bring the energy!! I just hope they cut down on the mistakes as the season progresses...

I know it’s early, but I sure hope the transfer from Charlotte improves. He needs to score double figures against quality competition.

The Louisville fan base probably flooded Wagner's drugstore afterwards for some consolation Hot Brown sandwiches after that beat down.

The coach said Mashack, at one time or another, guarded every position on the floor, even a post player.
“I mean, he was just dominant. And he does all the things that go into winning. And his effort was great. I thought everyone’s effort defensively was there.”

Mashack is one of my all time favorite Vols. He never slows down, guards the opponents best player, and has a great attitude. Just a terrific player.

Mashack will make an NBA roster.

or got a double double on 70% shooting which is what he's done so far this year.

He had a great game (18pts/15 rebounds, 1 personal foul in 21 minutes) against Old Dominion.
In his other game, he had 4 pts., 9 rebounds, and 4 personal fouls in 20 minutes against something called a Canisius.

I love Awaka. He was one of my favorite players last year. But I'm not ready to say his foul issues are absolved after 2 games against cupcakes, one of which he nearly fouled out of in just 20 minutes. But the dude can rebound. Always could.
