Danny White knew what he was doing in hiring Heupel. But I also give credit to Donde and Randy Boyd for the transition from a bunch of losers to creating a path to put our program back to where it deservedly belongs.

We are in a growth era and Saturday will be one of Heupel’s big moments. Can he handle it?

I predicted

5-7 in 2021, went 7-5 before losing the bowl game
8-4 in 2022, went 10-2 before winning the bowl game
8-4 in 2023, went 8-4 before winning bowl game
8-4 in 2024, sitting at 8-1 now.

He has exceeded my expectations, but my expectations have never been particularly high. I would say he has us tracking about where I thought we would need to be in order to build a contender. Still a bit concerned with the complete egg he seems to lay every year inexcusably, in addition to struggling mightily against Georgia, but he could buck one of those trends this week.

I think he is a very good coach, but still growing. He needs to understand how to perform better on the road at this point. He does great in Neyland when he has the crowd or even in bowl games when the fan base shows up.

To be fair a lot of teams struggle against Georgia

He has exceeded my expectations. The best part is that my kids now know what it feels like to be Vols fans when the team is actually good. The 2022 season was the first time Tennessee had beaten Alabama in any of their lifetimes.

I, like many others on here, get frustrated at times when the team isn’t performing as well as they can, but I have to stop myself from getting too down on them and remember what those dark years were like.

I guess he could still lose to UTEP and meet your expectations.

I did not expect him to do that well. I was under the impression that the only way to revive Tennessee was the “rockstar hire “ whoever that would’ve been considering everything we’ve been through.

Exceeded, but I don't understand why we seem to struggle so mightily in road games. It truly baffles me.

I will admit I was thinking we would be struggling just to become bowl eligible each year for the decade following his hire. I have been very pleasantly surprised.

I really enjoyed watching our football team with the fun O in 2021 and 2022. The O last year and this year have made it not quite as fun to watch. Although, I do enjoy watching our D this year.

My expectations had his time ending in Tennessee this year. After this year me expectations will be reset. I will expect multiple College Football playoff appearance over the next 4 years, would also love to win a SEC championship if thats still a thing over the next 4 years.

That's only happened twice before: 2004 and 1998. That's it. Not that we haven't been competitive, but simply that we didn't play both Florida and Georgia annually prior to 1992. The only other year we played all three before that was 1969, when we beat Alabama and Georgia and lost to Florida in the Gator Bowl.
