The QB doesn’t matter against UGA, the OL does

Nico’s biggest weakness this year has been holding the ball a touch too long. He has unmatched precision and intent with his throws however. The game seemed to be slowing. He seemed to realize he has legs.

Gaston has a weaker arm but seems to be more decisive (a bit heroic and optimistic at times)

But none of these attributes will matter if we can’t handle the pressure. Georgia will press us and force us to prove that we can handle the blitz.

I hope we are rolling pockets to help move our QBs. Georgias defense is still a bunch of dudes that can absolutely fly. We can’t expect to just hand it off.

We have to pass to run in this game.

We got absolutely out coached last time we were in Athens, hopefully we learn from it.

I don’t think our O Line can win straight up. We need scheme help

Their DL also stunk it up too really. Lane called a game to limit their weaknesses and emphasized their strengths, which worked our amazingly. Ole Miss has a poor OL and virtually no run game, but still got 28 points because UGA's offense couldn't do anything against that OM DL and UGA's corners are not great.

There are weaknesses to exploit on Saturday. They have been there all season and Lane finally put it together. Hoping Huepel can too.

We absolutely have to have an effective passing game. Receivers HAVE to catch, they can't be falling down we will need 2 or 3 huge passing plays to give the offense enough breathing room and to let the defense take care of the rest. We absolutely have to click in the pass game because that is Georgia's weak spot.

Yeah the solution to beating Georgia is an effective and devastating pass game. QB and receivers need to be on point the whole game. We can't have the QB making good throws and the receivers just drop it and we can't have receivers wide open and the QB not seeing them or overthrowing them. It all has to work properly and work all game.

If we do that I think we can trounce Georgia.

JMO, but think QB absolutely matters if we want to win this game. Nico short pass game much more efficient from what I saw in small sample size from Moore. If Nico doesn't go, and I'm UGA, I'm loading the box HEAVY for run support. OL of course has to minimally hold up. I see alot of TE passes mixed in w/ short/mid range efficiency, throwing a few low percentage long passes to keep them honest...50/50 balls where we go make a play or get interference call. Vastly overthrown balls don't help other than trying to keep UGA honest.

Whoever is QB needs to protect the ball, plain and simple (this goes for Sampson too). I thought Guston threw some nice deeps balls vs MS St that they smartly forced a PI on, rather than give up the big play. I would like to see more 1 on 1 deep shots regardless who is the QB saturday.

I'm strangely comfortable with the prospect of Gaston at QB in Athens. While not as physically gifted as Nico, I think his experience and knowledge of the offense will give us the ability to check into the right play and out of the wrong play. Gaston also seems to be more decisive with his throws.

Ole Miss did a good job of neutralizing Georgia's pass rush by getting the ball out quickly, which is something we will need to do as well. Crossing patterns, slants, and screens should all be used more than they have been. This is a game where I think we should limit the deep downfield shots to an extent. In the run game, Georgia has shown some vulnerability on the edges in multiple games. I would like to see us try to exploit that also, both with Sampson and Nico(if he plays).

I agree that having Nico healthy would give us a better shot at winning. I just don't think that all is necessarily lost if we have to roll with Gaston.

Why not? If he protects the ball and manages the game we'll, he definitely can beat UGA. You guys view UGA as some 85 Bears 2000's Ravens defense. They're not that this year. The hunger and leadership is gone.
