I know this is tracked but I couldn't find it.

I'm especially interested in how many games Jake Merklinger has played. If Nico is out, Jake is always one play away from being the QB. And Moore is totally ineffective, we might have to turn to a turn freshman regardless of his redshirt status.

Can play four games and still keep redshirt status - post season games do NOT count towards the four.
He's played in 2 games - Chattanooga and Kent State.
So he could play in 2 of the last 3 if needed and still maintain the redshirt status.

Caveat here is that redshirt players usually don't travel to away games as you already have a limited roster that can travel.
So if Merklinger travels to Athens, it tells us quite a bit about Nico's status early.

go to UTsports football stats to see all participation so far. It lists how many games everybody has played in so far. If it's under 4, you have your redshirts. UTEP is only game left they will be playing in.

Merklinger will travel to Athens regardless of Nico playing or not
