Most of the "experts" are speaking like it just a formality. That this game is in the bag for Georgia. We are huge underdogs. -10 points to a team that is ranked below us? Makes me wonder if the "fix" is in for this game. I personally feel pretty good about this one but I don't think I've ever heard as much talk about what comes next for Georgia after they win today. I hope we stomp a mud hole in them.

Because Georgia has owned us lately, until we do something about it, that's how it will be.

I think the thing with being an underdog. Kirby teams respond when they have no other option. That's what the experts see. At some point things change. Remember when everyone pointed to Sabans record against his former assistants he was like over 20 wins and no losses then once it ended it happened multiple times. If we can breakthrough then we prove we can do it and going forward will be viewed differently. Till then I think it's human nature to say I'll have to see it before I believe it after so many of the same things happening over and over.

Who exactly "fixes" these games such that the team that's favored wins? That's not a fix. If you think GA shouldn't be favored, that's fine but most of the football world disagrees with you and if you think "they're all against me" Cap'n Queeg, seek help.

If anything, a "fix" would involve a major upset for us.

They are building the expectations for the game for ratings, Georgia wins. They beat the number 7 team. The volunteers win they Show us Love and rank us number one!

UGA is still power rated higher than UT thus the spread. Spreads come from power rankings not the CFP or any other poll. Add in UT's road record and UGA's home record and you get to the 9 it is now easily. This process also easily explains how 9-0 BYU at home is only favored by 2.5 against 3-6 Kansas.
As for the "experts", many have spoken out of both sides of their mouth stating UGA will win but UT could easily be seen pulling the upset. This is human nature to pick the home favorite with much more recent success over what the current season data may suggest.
So I'll just say this scenerio works beautifully for the Vols. This makes any margin of victory look impressive. It's way better than being the favorite and not covering the spread which has been the case the last 2 weeks for UT.

It’s simple really when you put aside your love for the Vols. This team appears to be a “paper tiger”. Heupel can fortify his place in Vol lore if he can have this team play with violent intentions.
I agree with you. Perfect description of this unusual version of a Vol team. It almost seems to be a team still searching for its identity. Close to getting on track for explosive offense but then strange fumbles, missed blocks, and 3 runs up the middle of a stacked box. And an over-performing defense that suddenly gets gashed up the middle by Miss St last week.
And strangely, Georgia appears to be searching for its "true self" as well. Given the high stakes and given the usual hyped up performance of a Georgia team when you get its attention, I could see a big number win for the dogs. But I honestly don't have a feel for this one. First quarter is just huge for whichever team can get going offensively......if one of them can. It will be worth watching for sure.

No conspiracy. We have not shown at all that we are worthy of a top ten ranking. I believe we have the potential to win it all IF our offense reaches its potential. We have struggled offensively in every game against decent competition and if our defense was average we would have 4 losses. UGA dominated a top 5 Texas. We dominated only UTC and Kent state. That being said I think we win today and our offense turns the corner, and we become worthy of our ranking and our spot in the SEC championship.

There is no fix buddy. If UGA wins, then it means UT is not ready for prime time securing a spot in the playoffs. The line is big because UGA normally shows up for big games under Kirby and the game is in Athens. Now with that being said, UGA has some issues right now that UT can take advantage of with their OL problems and weakness in the run game. It also helps that Beck has been a turnover machine. I expect UGA’s defense to have a solid performance but whoever controls the LOS on offense wins imo. GBO!!!

We have shown that we are worthy of a top ten ranking because of our defense. Why is everyone ranking us according to our offense without taking into account what we have done on defense? The only other teams in the last decade who have done what we have done on defense have gone on to win a National Championship. Our offense does what it needs to do to win games and they continue to get better throughout the season. People are clearly struggling with BVS and listening to the media. We belong in this game and we deserve some respect!

I believe the potential is there for us to win. UGA has their share of issues this year - we just need to take advantage. My biggest concerns - we're in their house, and they're going to be motivated to prove themselves after the loss to Ole Miss. But I'm all in for the Vols!

I think the crowd is very calm down there today based off Gameday. Loudest point of the show was the field goal kick. Hopefully this carries over to the game.

They don’t want their food spit in when they visit Athens area restaurants today

Rankings are crazy this year. SC favored by 14 over ranked Miz makes sense to me and home field vs UGA night game makes sense too. It’s a tall task but feel much better about this game today than I did earlier in the year, when I counted it as more of an auto loss to a superior UGA team.

Contain the run, pressure Beck, and don’t turn the ball over. If we do this we more than have a shot.

I just don't want to see any imaginary calls placing the ball at our own 4 yard line after a kickoff. That bama game still burns.

Heupel has faced Smart 3 times and Smart knows how to defense this system. I look for this to be much like the Arkansas game where our offense is throttled. Our only hope is defensive turnovers and scores.

I never ever bet on the Vols in any sport but I do feel a little tugging to bet on them. I think I just want them to win so bad. I really do hate Georgia more than any other team. I do think we have a great chance to beat them! A few pick sixes I would bet on! Go Vols!

Bc most people are smoothbeained simpletons that are incapable of learning or growing. Juat pick a random thread on here if you want evidence. TN was an offensive steam roller 2 years ago and from now on under huepel that's all the media and their sheep will go with.

The only “fix” here is the need to fix the mental weakness and no-show mentality that still plagues this program from time to time. Today is a huge chance to actually fix it. That inexplicable Arkansas loss combined with our offensive mediocrity needs to get erased against Georgia or this will be just another season of missed opportunities.
