What's the reason our LBs are getting lost in coverage? Specifically the middle of the field. Surely Telander and Carter aren't that slow. I would have assumed they are more athletic than Pili was.

It’s less about speed and more about making the LBs adjust. They weren’t lost, but it was just a matter of having to read pass and get into coverage quickly. When UGA runs TE routes, it often runs a WR screen behind it. The LB has to decide whether (1) to avoid a coming block to make a tackle on the screen or (2) to stay over the top in coverage. It’s hard to do.

And on one of the TD plays it was a weird formation with the OL aligned TE-OG—C-OG-OT-OT. An additional TE on the right side ran what looked like a block back towards the middle of the field and the defense miscounted their assignments: the person responsible for the TE we’re probably lined up over the outside OT, and the OT wasn’t eligible and didn’t run a route.

That's a good point. Sounds like growing pains more than anything. Pili always lined up teammates

Pili was athletic. Moreso than Telander. But not moreso than Carter. Regardless, your point stands. They look lost in coverage.
