It's no secret that the Vols had a poor showing last night. Despite getting pushed around in the trenches and not executing, what fight they did display kept them in the game until the last 5 minutes.

Thank you coaches and players for sitting at 8-2 with a TON to still play for. As a fan base, we have longed for competing again at a high level. As a fan base, we have longed for UT football to be back in the mix.

There is no excuse to not be beating UGA at least some of the time. I believe Heup will get the Vols there. Before the previous administrations ruined UT Athletics, the Vols owned UGA. UT may not beat them like they were little brother again, but Heup will have the Vols winning some of these. I am confident in this.

Hard to explain the feeling as a life long fan the joy it brings me that Tennessee's program has been elevated to the national college football discussion, like it was year in and year out for most of my life.

We appreciate it and keep it going in the right direction!!! Go Big Orange!!!

The big three, UT, Bama, and UGA (with all due respect to Ole Miss and Texas) have all held up their end of the bargain against each other this year: the home team has won in every case. Hard to be all that mad about this loss in that context. Where we haven’t all held up our end is in our loss to Arky and Bama’s loss to Vandy. Georgia’s losses, it must be acknowledged, are both to very good teams.

I completely agree TS. We are competing again. Beating Florida, Alabama and Georgia in the same season will always be a tall order for every team.

5 years ago if you told me we’d be in a good spot to finish 10-2 I would’ve taken it all day long. The Arkansas game is gonna end up biting us, but hopefully the players learn to not take anyone lightly again.

Take your sensible, logical thinking and GTFO! :D

But seriously, all good points. Georgia's a good team. No one has won in Athens in years. Tennessee is very competitive again. Look at the number of people disappointed in a potential 10-2 season as proof.

We didn’t even play bad . We did a ton right and Georgia made some huge plays and capitalized on our mistakes. I appreciate every single one of our players and coaches. If we played a candy schedule everyone would still be praising us
This. Too many overly emotional types here thing we got our asses handed to us. Reality was that we were tied at half and lost the 4th quarter.

There are no moral victories now, but the boys played hard last night and we had our opportunity.

UGA is still WAY more talented and better coached than 99% of the league. Even in a down year they are still competing for a championship. There is no shame in losing to them on the road when the game was competitive until about the last 5 minutes.

People need to take a chill pill and keep perspective. How many 10 win seasons did the last FOUR coaches have? 0. Heupel already has 1 and has us competing for our second in 4 years. Plus the recruiting has been much better, so the opportunity will continue.

It could be really easy to be sour about a tough loss last night, but I appreciate posters like the ones above me keeping things in perspective. I am glad to be back in contention with some of the best football teams. Although a GA loss would have been the cherry on top of this season, as they say "ya can't win 'em all!". I hate losing to GA as much as anyone, but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Save for a tough L in Fayetteville, we won every game that we should have (and maybe even stole one from the W column against FL or AL). If we can finish this season strong at 10-2 there's a really great chance we get selected for a good bowl game. I think there's an outside chance we still make the playoffs although i'm not holding my breath. I still love my Vols and am wise enough to take the good with the bad in this time, it wasn't too long ago we weren't even bowl eligible. GBO!

Agree. I say the same thing about UT Basketball under Barnes-fans being disappointed in a S16 or E8 loss. They must have forgotten what it was like in the several years pre Barnes (and pre Heupel with football).

It wasn’t even supposed to be a down year for UGA. They’ve been rated top 5 almost the entire year. They just do what theyve done the last few years where they lollygag for most the year and then turn up. They just paid a little more for it this year.

I have the same mindset. It is good to be back playing in big games and already having won 8 games with 2 still to play. If we miss the playoffs at 10-2 it will not be a failure in my eyes.

We win out and Turds beat old piss or GA Tech beats GA... We have to be top 4 out of SEC. I don't think 5th team makes playoffs.

Good post. Where we were and where we are now - yeah. Not happy about last night, everyone should see we are getting there. It's mindful of 1989 for certain. It's coming. Just gotta keep recruiting. As caveat - really like seeing Nico run too. We're coming along...

After watching UF the last few weeks, nobody should be giggling about Napier.

For me right now, given the uncertainty of the CFP rankings, the Arkansas loss is the one that stings most. Had we taken care of business there the way we should have, the GA loss--which most people predicted--wouldn't have been that big a deal. We really should be angry about Arkansas, not UGA. There's no excuse for a team with Tennessee's reputation to lose to Arkansas...unless that's all it is, reputation.
