If TX doesn’t at least play for the SEC champ then we are 100 percent out of it.
If TX doesn’t win the SEC champ I think we are out.
If TX beats Bama, we replace Ole Miss
If TX beats GA , we replace GA
??? Thoughts??

If we win our, we are in
I wish that were true but there is a formula where TN, UGA, Miss, Alabama, TAMU all finish 6-2, that they go head to head games which puts UGA/TN/Alabama all beating each other, Ole Miss beating Georgia and then going to winning percentage of opponents which puts UGA/Bama/Miss in over us. Some things can happen of course to change this, but if everybody wins as expected, we are not in.

Even with TX out, we can make it. And I think TX may lose against A&M. TX has played no one and if they lose that game we have a much better resume than they do.

I wouldn’t count Ole MS as a two loss team yet either with Florida coming up

We do need help. The easiest path for us is Ole Miss or Notre Dame to lose one. That gets us in if we beat Vandy.

The Texas equation concerns me because they would have to fall along way specially if A&M wins the SEC

As noted above a lot of variables left

Texas won't lose again; but if they play bama and beat them in the SECCG,, doesn't that put UT ahead of bama? Too bad bama/auburn isn't @ Auburn... Vols just need to handle business, and Vandy will be trying like "heck" to mess it up. Lsu might help the Vols by wearing on VU this week, even if Vandy pulls another upset in Baton Rouge. (possibility considering lsu's woes of late) A lot can happen in two weeks. Including Vandy beating Tenn if Tenn doesn't go in hell bent.

I'd love to see Vandy beat LSU. It would make (hopefully) a win over Vandy more attractive and it makes the OM loss to LSU worse and the Bama win over LSU mean a bit less.

I think the winning percentage formula changes if Mizzou loses to Miss St. & Arkansas. Bama's winning percentage of opponents would drop below us.

We'll see. Texas seems to be the best one loss SEC team. That means about what you think it means. Georgia probably has a great shot at beating them in which case that's Two SEC teams in at the top. Then all the other 2 loss teams will have to hope to be chosen by mostly Big 10 people.

We wouldn’t have a much better resume than Texas in that scenario. We would have a worse record against common opponents, and Texas would have no bad losses. It would be extremely debatable as to which resume is better.

Texas is frustrating because if they lose to A&M, they could still get into the CFP on brand alone even without a single ranked win. You play the schedule you get, but they could be rewarded for losing their only two ranked matchups. I would argue they should not be in with two losses and 0 ranked wins, however the committee is biased by ESPN who wants Texas no matter what. Just ask the old SWC and BIG IX schools about Texas. They get special treatment.

BTW, I think a Texas A&M victory is more likely than a Texas win. That A&M DL is fierce and this is the game A&M has had circled since Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC was announced. Kyle field will be ON FIRE and it is a night game. This is a playoff to get into the SEC championship and likely a CFP bid.

We would have a ranked win with a stronger SOS compared to Texas. But I agree: Texas is pretty much a lock. Brand is too big and ESPN wants them no matter what.

I haven't considered all of the scenarios, but wouldn't it be best for us if Texas wins out, plays Bama in the SECCG and gives Bama a third loss? Wouldn't that knock them out and we could sneak in?

I think it doesn't matter if it's Alabama or Georgia with a loss. We both need a loss from either one of them. TX lost to Georgia , same as I us. We beat Bama, so if Bama is the SEC champ, then it makes us look better. If they lose in SEC champ game, that means we would be tied with Ole Miss and Georgia. I actually don't think we want that scenario. Could be wrong though.
