Just thinking through the playoff teams ahead of us or potentially in and how we match up.

I’m categorizing this in : Should beat meaning we’re the better team.. could beat meaning we’re just as talented and it would be a solid game- and might be tough meaning I don’t think we match up well.. I don’t think anyone this year is clearly a dominate team:

Have beat: Bama

Should beat: Penn State, Boise State, Indiana, Miami/SMU, BYU/Colorado,
Notre Dame

Could beat: Bama again, Texas, Ohio state, ole miss (almost put them in the would be tough category)

Would be tough : Georgia, Oregon

Of course doing all of this back to back on the road is a ridiculous task but I think we’re better than 6 of the field, have beat one- and match up well with 10 of the field realistically- none of them are unbeatable though.

What’s everyone else’s thoughts?

There's no one who is unbeatable for us. We still need to relax about the playoffs until the actual bracket is announced Dec 10 or whenever. I'm not saying we will win, I am saying we can. Nuanced difference here. There are probably 10-12 teams who can compete competitively with one another. There are about 4 pretenders in the top 12-15 teams right now. At least 3 of them are in the top 6

If we found some offense, I think we couod almost beat anyone. The way we've been playing, it's hard to even guess if we'd win round one. We're basically one dimensional, and any decent coach will adjust, and shut us down. Our defense is good, but it's tiring when the offense can't help.

My thought is the "committee" is FOS. Your analysis should be a consideration: Of the top 15 teams, the "committee" should consider who would be favored on a neutral field? Rewarding a team that has not beaten a top-25 team or that has lost to a team ranked 99 (Sagarin), at home no less, is absurd.

You can be one dimensional with a great D, and we have one. Our DC just blew it against UGA.

True, but you gotta put pounts up, and give that defense rest. I do agree, the whole scheme for Georgia sucked.
You mean you didn’t like us rushing only 4, giving Beck a ton of time even though he has severely struggled under pressure… and then not changing that game plan at all the whole game?

Wild.

Everyone is beatable. If we get past the first round we have as good of a chance as anyone to win the national championship. We’ve only lost 1 game in the past 3 years that wasn’t a true road game.

Umm yeah, this one has no clear answer.

The matchups which would worry me greatly are Georgia and Ohio State.

Everyone else, we would stand a better than average shot at taking them down.

I mean sooner or later we have to wake up on offense don't we? I would have no issues if we "woke up" and thrashed ND on their field.

The Boise State game would be a showdown between their star running back against D Samp.

I know, I'm being selfish wanting adjustments 😆

Hard to say. Great parity as you have pointed out. So, we could beat any of them IMO. That said, they all would be tough.

So, I might simply make it should and could beat.

We haven’t played a complete game all year, so my should beat is SMU, Colorado, Miami, BYU.

Hard to include Boise State with their only competition being Oregon whom they played closely. So, they and everyone else is could beat.

I will still bite on toughest to beat without knowing which teams they are. Pretty much the teams with the best averages between run defense, best run games and best pass protection out of the remainder.

Texas hasn’t really won against anyone. Ole Miss would be a handful imo bc of their pass rush and our Oline. Georgia and Ole Miss probably are the two worst matchups for us.

The bad thing is everyone knew the key was getting pressure on Beck. Florida showed how to beat them they just didn’t have the players to do it with; ole Miss took that blueprint and beat the piss out of them with it. I don’t fault Banks for the initial plan but damn to stick with it the whole game was just dumb.

Virtually impossible to answer with any certainty. But let’s have fun. Now this is dependent on our team playing their best. If that’s the case then there is no team in the ACC or B12 that can beat us. ND? We beat them. Boise? Their strength is our defensive strength. We win.

Now to the ACC. I don’t think PSU nor Indiana have enough to beat us. Now Oregon or OSU? Both could beat us and both would be really tough games.

Georgia, TX or Bama would all be tough .

So according to you the committee should use Vegas as their means to choose teams?
